1. AI Drones in Warfare: Nations Debate Legal Limits 🚁
The increasing use of AI-controlled drones in warfare is sparking a global debate on legal constraints. Some countries are advocating for new legal limits to manage the risks associated with robot warfare. However, major powers like the U.S. are showing resistance to these constraints. This development marks a significant shift in modern warfare, where AI plays a crucial role.
2. MediaTek's Move to Democratize AI in Phones 📱
MediaTek is joining Qualcomm in bringing ChatGPT-like AI to more affordable smartphones with its new Dimensity 8300 chip. This move follows the launch of the premium Dimensity 9300, which brought generative AI to top-end Android phones. The Dimensity 8300 aims to expand on-device generative AI access to phones below the premium tier, showcasing the industry's eagerness to tap into the generative AI trend.
3. Baidu's Revenue Surges with ChatGPT-Style AI 📈
Baidu, a Chinese tech giant, has reported a significant revenue beat, largely attributed to its ChatGPT-style AI services. The company's AI-driven approach, similar to OpenAI's ChatGPT, has been a key factor in its financial success. Baidu's focus on advanced AI technologies for various applications is reshaping its business model and market position.
4. World Press Photo Contest Bans AI-Generated Images 📸
The World Press Photo Contest has revised its rules to exclude AI-generated images from its Open Format category. This decision, reversing an earlier stance to accept such submissions, comes after backlash from photojournalists. The contest aims to maintain the integrity of photojournalism by ensuring entries are authentic, lens-based camera photos. The move highlights the ongoing debate about the role of AI in art and journalism, emphasizing the need for clear ethical standards in the age of AI-enhanced photography.
5. AI vs. Human Intelligence: A Study's Insight 🧠
A new study from the University of Cincinnati argues that AI, such as ChatGPT, lacks the true understanding and consciousness inherent in human intelligence. The research highlights that AI's text generation abilities, while impressive, do not equate to human intelligence, which is deeply rooted in embodied experiences and emotions. This study brings to light the fundamental differences between AI and human cognition, emphasizing that AI's capabilities are distinct from the nuanced and complex nature of human intelligence.

🤷♂️ What’s Going On and Why It Matters:
Head still spinning from all the OpenAI drama?
Sames.
If you accidentally took a 96-hour nap and missed it all, OpenAI is in a current state of ‘What the actual frick?’
There’s been so many questions and uncertainties floating around.
Is ChatGPT gonna shut down?
Why did Sam Altman get fired?
How did Microsoft make $70 billion off this fiasco?
Well, check it out shorties.
We searched the corners of the internet to bring you the juiciest scoop as Jordan went solo today and brought some hot takes on who’s to blame at OpenAI.
If you actually were sleeping for 96 hours, here’s what you missed.
Friday - OpenAl fires Sam Altman; Greg Brockman quits as President. Mira Murati is appointed Interim CEO.
Saturday - Investors working to bring Altman Back.
Sunday - Altman meets with OpenAI, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella reportedly mediates meeting.
Monday - Emmett Shear (former Twitch CEO) named Interim CEO at OpenAI, Nadella announced Altman and Brockman joining Microsoft to lead a new AI research arm, and 700+ of OpenAI’s 770ish employees threaten to walk if the OpenAI board doesn’t resign and reinstate Altman.
Oh, and investors are reportedly about to sue the OpenAI board. And OpenAI floated a merger with Anthropic.
Tuesday - There’s NEW talks Altman could be rejoining OpenAI and we’re all picking up the pieces.
And. Aaaaaand the newest/Interim CEO Emmett Shear has already (reportedly) threatened to quit.
BREAKING: New OpenAI CEO, Emmett Shear, threatens to resign unless the board explains why Sam Altman was fired.
Less than 48 hours ago, Shear was appointed as CEO of OpenAI.
Shear said that if the board cannot "clearly communicate" why Altman was fired, he is leaving.
Wow.

What are your thoughts? Lettuce know, as we break it all down. 👇
🦾How You Can Leverage:
Today’s breakdown is a meal and a half.
Let’s get right into it and FEAST on all the drama. 🍽️
(Or, you can always re-listen to the whole hot-take episode!)
1 – The Ink Hasn't Dried️ 🖋
Important thing to keep in mind — nothing is final.
Reporting over the weekend showed that Sam Altman was on his way to lead a new division at Microsoft focused on AI research, and potentially hundreds of OpenAI employees may be following him there.
But the latest reports Tuesday afternoon shows Sam-bak-to-OpenAI talks have been reignited. Again, again.
So…. nothing is final.
2 – More Unknowns Than Knowns 🤔
Who was in the room where it happened? 🎶
Apparently only a few people, and they’re saying nada. Lips…. sealed.
Just know this — there are WAY more unknowns than knowns. As we try to unfold this whole knot, keep in mind that most of all know absolutely nothing.
3 – Impact on US Economy 🏦
Guess what the Top 6 companies in the US (per market cap) have in common?
OpenAI has changed how they do business.
OpenAI has legit changed the trajectory of the American economy and the world GenAI rush.
Whatever the flip happens in the coming hours/week/months, don’t overlook the economic impact y’all.
4 – OpenAI is at Great Risk ⚠️
Wait, 95% of employees threatening to leave a company doing $1 billion a month is a bad thing, right?
Yes. It’s a very bad thing.
5 – The OpenAI Board is Kinda Inept 😬
Sorry not sorry.
There’s a reason OpenAI investors are pushing REAL HARD to sue the OpenAI board.
And the fact the new Interim CEO (who is the third CEO in 4 days, BTW) has already reportedly threatened to quit if the board doesn’t get its ish together.
The board overseeing the company that’s developing Artificial General Intelligence couldn’t see that firing this generation’s Bill Gates wasn’t gonna end well?
C’mon y’all. Facepalm emoji.
6 – Satya Nadella is the GOAT 🐐
Did the Microsoft CEO pull off the steal of the year by maybe bringing on Sam Altman, and hundreds of other OpenAI employees?
AND he added $63 billion in market value through the whole thing ?
Yeah, kinda. 🐐
7 – OpenAI’s Downfall 📉
Will OpenAI recover and bounce back before we even (finally) send this email? Maybe.
But the more likely story?
They’ll lose hundreds of enterprise customers, their previously stellar reputation, maybe their popular CEO, and possibly hundreds of employees.
Not a good day at the office, OpenAI.
