Translate text inside ChatGPT

Translating text used to be very expensive and time-consuming.

Now with AI, you can translate and analyze text.

We’re showing you how to use the MixerBox GPT translator in ChatGPT.

Every week, there’s potential game-changing developments in the GenAI space.

Every week, we separate the contenders from the pretenders.

Ready to get ahead for the week in AI?

You’re in the right place.

(Almost) Every Monday, we bring you the AI news that matters.

From an OpenAI competitor and a big government move, the AI space was hot as ever this week.

Let’s dive in and talk about what matters. (And what doesn’t.)

1 – First Real Sora Competitor? 👀

When Sora came out, the world collective scratched its head and marveled.

How could the first offering from OpenAI in the text-to-video space be so far ahead of all other players?

Well, now OpenAI and Sora have some competition. Chinese company ShengShu-AI and Tsinghua University introduced Vidu, a text-to-video AI model.

The results are pretty dang impressive. Like… check this out.

Vidu can generate 16-second HD clips that already rival the quality from OpenAI’s Sora.

What it means:

We made this prediction back in 2023 — that 2024 would be the year of AI video.

While we’re not sure what the immediate future holds for Sora or for the new Vidu platform, we do know this.

↳ Vidu’s quality is so far the only one on-par with Sora’s, far surpassing current day AI video generations from Runway, Pika Labs and others.

↳ Right now both platforms are not publicly available.

↳ That’s probably for the best, as deepfake concerns right before the U.S. election may keep platforms with this much realism from making their mainstream debut.

2 – NVIDIA Acquires Run:ai For $700M 💰

It’s not often a nearly $1 billion acquisition isn’t even the top story of the week.

That’s just how quickly things move.

NVIDIA announced that it had acquired Run:ai for a whopping $700 million.

In short, Run:ai provides software that helps companies use their computer hardware more effectively for artificial intelligence projects, making it faster and cheaper to develop AI technologies

Among other reasons, NVIDIA acquired Run:ai to enhance its capabilities in AI infrastructure management, particularly in optimizing GPU utilization for AI workloads.

What it means:

As if NVIDIA’s competitors didn’t have a steep enough hill to climb to catch the GPU giant.

Welp. Hill = even steeper.

This move locks in better resource management for AI projects, making NVIDIA’s ecosystem even stickier for developers and businesses leaning into AI.

Translation? Good luck to anyone trying to play catch-up.

3 – Apple and OpenAI = still a thing? 🤷

Flip, flop.

According to a recent Bloomberg report, Apple is still in talks with OpenAI to use its GPT technology for its next generation iPhone.

If you’re new to the Apple + AI saga, here’s what it’s looked like over the past few months.

Fall 2023 — Apple is reportedly spending millions a day on its own LLM, Ajax.

March 18 — Apple is weighing partnerships with Google or OpenAI for its next iPhone.

March 19 — Apple releases research paper that actually shows it’s got a powerful LLM up its sleeve in MM1.

April 2024 — After earlier reports that Google was the frontrunner for a partnership with Apple, new reports show that OpenAI is still in the fold.

What it means:

Apple is set to announce its AI-powered iPhone in June at its Worldwide Developers Conference.

Wherever Apple ultimately falls in terms of its LLM partnership may greatly impact not only the future of how we use devices worldwide but could also make a booming impact (one way or the other) on the economy.

Buckle up shorties.

(Don’t worry, we’ll always be bringing you the latest here.)

4 – US Gov. Creates AI Safety Panel 🇺🇸

The U.S. government is tapping into the big AI boys and girls to help regulate AI.

The Department of Homeland Security has created an advisory panel to address the potential security threats posed by artificial intelligence to critical infrastructure.

The new group, dubbed the Artificial Intelligence Safety and Security Board, aims to protect critical infrastructure from AI-related disruptions.

The panel includes prominent CEOs in technology, transportation, defense, and civil rights, and will focus on developing recommendations to mitigate these risks.

The lineup includes heavy hitters like OpenAI’s Sam Altman, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, and more.

What it means:

We understand the irony of creating a board of AI executives to help regulate ….themselves.

However, it’s probably the right move.

TBH, there’s a big chunk of U.S. lawmakers who still don’t even understand how the internet works.

5 – Adobe Photoshop Adds Firefly 3 🖼

Ding-ding-ding.

Another challenger has entered the ring.

Adobe recently announced an update to its AI image generation, Firefly with its Firefly 3 release.

The all-new beta version of Photoshop includes some groundbreaking advancements in Generative Fill and a new Firefly Image 3 Foundation Model, allowing for greater control and creativity in image editing, and bridging the gap between ideation and creation.

What it means:

Could slow and steady win the race?

You can’t really do an apples-to-apples comparison here.

Sure, Adobe’s Firefly is not quite on par, quality-wise, with leaders in AI image generation like Midjourney and Stable diffusion.

But, those generators have taken a more liberal approach to training its models, whereas Adobe has taken a more ethical training approach.

Adobe has quietly yet consistently been adding and updating AI features to its product lineup, so expect Adobe to continue to pick up steam in 2024.

6 – Meta Ray-Bans Go Multimodal 😎

While some AI-hardware products haven’t exactly dazzled (we’re looking at you, Humane Pin), Meta’s Ray-Ban partnership has continued to improve.

Meta just announced multimodal capabilities to its partnership with Ray-Bans.

Now, users talk to their AI-powered spectacles and ask them what they’re looking at.

What it means:

AI wearables are all the rage, but there hasn’t been a flagship product that has gained much steam.

Could Meta’s Ray-Bans be the first?

We kinda think so, which is why we’re even giving away a pair as part of our 1 Year Anniversary giveaway.

Copy your unique URL below, and send it to friends/family/coworkers to enter our giveaway.

1st place: Most referrals = First pick for prize pool. (Meta Ray-Bans, as well as two separate 90 minute GenAI consults.
