1. NVIDIA Hits Record High Amid AI Buzz 📈

NVIDIA's stock has reached a record high closing price of over $138, fueled by investor enthusiasm for the artificial intelligence boom and a massive $6.6 billion funding round for OpenAI, which will significantly benefit NVIDIA's chip sales.

(But then, immediately dropped on news of a potential U.S. cap on AI chip exports.)

With analysts bullish on NVIDIA's prospects, including a projected $7 billion revenue from its new Blackwell chips, the company is now in striking distance of overtaking Apple as the world's most valuable firm, boasting a market cap of $3.4 trillion.

2. Amazon and Databricks Partner for AI Innovation 🤝

Amazon and Databricks have announced a five-year partnership that promises to significantly reduce costs for businesses looking to develop their own AI capabilities. By leveraging Amazon's Trainium AI chips, Databricks aims to offer a more affordable alternative to NVIDIA's GPUs, potentially saving customers up to 40% on computing expenses.

As tech giants like Microsoft and Google ramp up their AI offerings, Amazon's focus on custom chips could reshape the competitive landscape for corporate AI solutions, making advanced technology more accessible for businesses of all sizes.

3. Google Partners with Kairos Power for Nuclear Energy ⚡️

Google has signed the world’s first corporate agreement to purchase electricity from next-generation small modular reactors (SMRs) still in development, partnering with Kairos Power. This deal comes as the tech giant ramps up its clean energy efforts to meet ambitious climate goals, despite a staggering 48% increase in greenhouse gas emissions since 2019.

With its first SMR expected to be operational by 2030 and a plan to deliver up to 500MW of carbon-free energy by 2035, this initiative could reshape the energy landscape, especially for companies striving for sustainability.

4. US Considers AI Chip Export Caps 🚫

The U.S. government is contemplating restrictions on AI chip exports from tech giants NVIDIA and AMD to certain countries, aiming to maintain its competitive edge in artificial intelligence technology. This decision comes amid rising global tensions and concerns over national security, highlighting the strategic importance of advanced computing capabilities.

Such limitations could affect not only international trade dynamics but also the ambitions of companies aiming to innovate in AI. According to industry experts, this could lead to a ripple effect, influencing job opportunities and growth prospects for tech professionals worldwide.

5. NYT Takes a Stand Against Perplexity and AI Content Use 🧑‍⚖️

The New York Times has issued a "cease and desist" notice to Perplexity, demanding the company halt its use of NYT content for generative AI tasks. This clash underscores the ongoing tension between traditional publishers and AI firms, as news organizations grapple with copyright infringement and the unauthorized use of their material.

Perplexity claims it is merely indexing web pages rather than scraping data, yet the NYT insists its content still appears in their outputs. With the deadline to respond set for October 30, this development could shape how AI companies navigate content sourcing and copyright in the future, impacting both their operations and the broader media landscape

6. Meta Unveils AI Hardware at OCP Summit 2024 🛠️

At the Open Compute Project Global Summit 2024, Meta introduced new AI hardware innovations, including the Catalina high-powered rack designed for modern AI workloads and the expanded Grand Teton platform now supporting AMD accelerators.

These advancements aim to optimize AI infrastructure, enabling the training of massive models like Llama 3.1 405B on unprecedented scales, while addressing the increasing demands for compute and network performance.

Microsoft Copilot Think Deeper Review: Copilot releases o1 “Strawberry” mode

Microsoft Copilot can now reason with OpenAI’s o1 model!

Copilot Pro users now have access to the o1 model through Microsoft Copilot with a new Think Deeper mode.

We’re showing you how it works and breaking down what’s new.

There’s some things we like…. and some thing we think kinda stink.

🦾How You Can Leverage:

Apparently we just fast-forwarded 10 years into the AI future.

Adobe's gone full AI Oprah:

"You get AI! You get AI! Everybody gets AI!"

Adobe is in the middle of its Adobe Max conference, where it unveils the latest and greatest tech it has to offer to the creative world.

And yea… that meant a LOT of AI.

From Firefly's video magic to what we think could be a subtle Hollywood takeover, it's raining silicon-powered creativity.

Today, we gave Adobe the deep dive treatment, going over everything you need to know.

But, if you want the abridged version, here’s the essentials of what ya need to know.

And …. ACTION!

1 – Maximum AI updates 😶‍🌫️

We’re not gonna kill digital trees and write in-depth about each and every new AI feature.

Cuz there’s like a bajillion.

Maybe the ‘Max’ in Adobe Max is just like maximum AI everywhere.

Here’s our list of the Top 10 new AI features that we think will be widely used by creatives:

  • Firefly AI Video Model: Generates videos from text and image prompts. Creates B-roll footage and 2D and 3D animations. Extends video clips.

  • Distraction Removal in Photoshop: Removes unwanted items, such as people, wires, and poles from photos.

  • Generative Fill in Photoshop: Adds or removes content from images with text prompts.

  • Generative Expand in Photoshop: Extends images beyond original borders.

  • Generate Similar in Photoshop: Creates variations of AI-generated images.

  • Generate Background in Photoshop: Creates image backgrounds.

  • Enhanced Image Trace in Illustrator: Converts bitmap images into vectors.

  • Objects on Path in Illustrator: Arranges and moves objects along a design path.

  • Generative Workspace in Photoshop (beta): Generates sets of images based on text prompts to help brainstorm concepts.

  • Substance 3D Viewer in Photoshop (beta): Allows viewing and editing of 3D objects in Photoshop.

2 – Firefly Video: Shot at Sora? 🎯

Sora was announced 8 months ago.

And …… that’s it. It’s been just marketing and teasers but no actual releases.

Firefly? It's starting to roll out to paid users who signed up for the waitlist. Now.

Adobe's not just talking—they're delivering.

While OpenAI's Mira Murati infamously fumbled basic questions about Sora's training data and said she “wasn’t sure” if Sora used platforms like YouTube to train their models.

Adobe's laying their cards on the table

Adobe claims that Firefly's trained on Adobe's vast content library. No shadowy internet scraping here.

(Except for that Midjourney side-step, it seems like Adobe’s only using in-house materials to train Firefly.)

Try this:

Even though Firefly video is still on a waitlist basis, it’s ACTUALLY rolling out to users right now.

Even if you’re on a free Adobe account, you can even access the updated Firefly 3 image model now.

We’ll let you know once we get access to Firefly Video, but here’s a quick test with the updated Firefly photo.

(The Firefly Image 3 Model was enhanced, offering 4x faster image generation compared to previous versions.)

It’s better than Dall-E from OpenAI, but far behind Midjourney and Imagen 3 from Google.

3 – Max makes AI video mainstream? 🎬

Firefly in Premiere Pro isn't just another feature—it's AI integration at the core of professional workflows.

Key feature: Generative Extend. Add up to 2 seconds to any clip longer than 3 seconds, maintaining camera motion and subject movement.

Our Prediction: Only 1% of creators will actively use this tech, but 100% of viewers will see the results.

We’re talking seamless extensions in TV shows, films, and ads. The line between shot and generated footage is gonna start blurring fast.

In terms of bringing AI videos to our screens, this simple 2-second feature inside of Premier Pro might actually be the biggest step in normalizing AI in our living rooms.

We just won’t even notice.

Try this:

Even if you’re not a video editor, you’ll prolly appreciate just the tech.

Go watch this short one-minute video from Adobe that shows off how Generative Extend works inside of Premier Pro by using Firefly video.

Pretty impressive, TBH.
