1. ChatGPT Releases ChatGPT Search 🔍

In a significant upgrade announced today, ChatGPT is now integrating web search directly into its responses, enhancing the way users access timely information. This feature allows users to ask questions in a conversational manner and receive direct answers with linked sources from reputable publishers, making the search for quality information faster and more efficient.

With this rollout, ChatGPT aims to bridge the gap between casual inquiries and in-depth research, potentially transforming how individuals approach their careers or businesses by providing instant access to the latest data and insights. The update is particularly noteworthy for ChatGPT Plus and Team users, who can start using this enhanced search functionality immediately, while others will gain access in the coming months.

2. Google Unveils Real-Time Search for Gemini AI 🤯

Google has launched a real-time search feature called "Grounding with Google Search," enabling developers to access up-to-date information directly from Google’s search engine. This initiative comes as the tech giant faces stiff competition from OpenAI, which just introduced its own consumer-facing ChatGPT Search service.

By allowing developers to integrate fresh search data into their applications for $35 per 1,000 queries, Google aims to revolutionize AI workflows while addressing concerns about content usage and publisher compensation.

3. Anthropic Claude Gets Dedicated Mac App 💻

Anthropic has launched a dedicated Mac app for its AI assistant, Claude, marking a significant addition to the growing ecosystem of AI tools for Apple users. This beta version allows both free and paid subscribers easy access to Claude 3.5 Sonnet, enhancing productivity and user experience without the clutter of browser tabs.

With the simultaneous rollout of new M4 Macs and features in macOS Sequoia, this app's arrival couldn't be more timely for professionals seeking to leverage AI in their workflows.

4. Amazon's Alexa AI Faces the Heat from CEO Jassy 🔥

In a revealing summer 2023 test, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy grilled an upgraded prototype of Alexa with a barrage of sports questions, aiming to see if the voice assistant could hold its own against the likes of ChatGPT. While Alexa managed to respond to inquiries about player stats and team history, it notably faltered on accuracy, even fabricating a game score when asked for recent outcomes.

This moment not only highlights the ongoing competition in AI-driven voice technology but also raises questions about reliability in conversational AI—an essential factor for users seeking trustworthy information.

5. Microsoft's AI Business Set to Soar 🚀

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced that the company's AI business is on track to reach a $10 billion annual run rate by next quarter, marking a record pace for any of its product categories. This growth is fueled by increasing demand for Azure cloud services and Microsoft 365 productivity tools, with 70% of Fortune 500 companies already leveraging Microsoft 365 Copilot.

In a broader context, this reflects a significant shift in the tech landscape as companies increasingly rely on AI solutions to enhance efficiency and drive revenue.

6. NVIDIA Faces EU Antitrust Scrutiny Over Run:ai Acquisition 🇪🇺

NVIDIA has been prompted to seek EU antitrust clearance for its $700 million acquisition of AI startup Run:ai, as the European Commission flags potential competition risks in the tech sector. This decision follows concerns raised by Italy's competition agency, indicating that the merger could disrupt the market landscape where both companies operate.

With NVIDIA's dominance in AI chip technology, this scrutiny highlights the growing regulatory attention on major tech deals, potentially impacting innovation and collaboration in the industry.

7. Samsung Chips Away at AI Challenges 🤯

Samsung Electronics reported a Q3 operating profit of $6.7 billion, slightly surpassing its preliminary estimates, despite a significant 40% drop in chip division profits from the previous quarter. The company is shifting focus to high-end chips, particularly those used for AI, with expectations of improved sales in Q4 after clearing key qualification tests with NVIDIA.

While Samsung faces fierce competition in the semiconductor sector, especially against rivals like TSMC and SK Hynix, its commitment to AI technology could signal a vital pivot toward revitalizing its struggling chip business.

🦾How You Can Leverage:

There’s very few people in the world as qualified as Xuedong Huang to talk about AI and productivity.

For real.

Now the CTO of Zoom, Xuedong (Known as XD) previously spent 30+ years bringing productivity software working at Microsoft.

So as we shift into the age of AI-first workplaces, XD’s insights were worth their weight in gold.

How should we be spending our time working with AI?

What new skills should we be developing?

And how can we all work like we’re high-level executives?

XD broke it down and helped us all connect the dots between AI and productivity for today’s workforces.

Ready for the takeaways?

1 – Generative AI is a seismic shift 😶‍🌫️

XD didn’t sugar coat the era of Generative AI. It’s not some shiny tool. It’s a seismic shift.

A. First was the personal computing era, which Microsoft arguably dominated.

B. Then, came the Internet-connected collaboration era, which Google arguably dominated.

C. Now, we’re in the AI era, a space where XD said Zoom is trying to dominate.

And we all get to reap the benefits of what this new era brings, he said.

He recalled his time serving as an executive at Microsoft. He got to bring his Chief of Staff everywhere with him to help take notes in meetings and keep track of to-dos and timelines.

Try this:

XD said you don’t have to be a C-Suite anymore to have those C-Suite benefits.

With LLMs and AI-powered collaboration suites like Zoom Workplace, we all get the benefits that only used to be afforded to high-powered execs.

Now, everyone now has a Chief of Staff with Generative AI.

Where to get started?

You could kinda steal our playbook? In this episode we gave you 5 simple ways you can use GenAI in your day-to-day.

You’ll be feeling like a Chief Everything Officer in no time shorties.

2 – Build other parts of your brain 🎯

This is the question of 2025: If Generative AI makes you 70 or 50 or even 30 percent more productive, what do you do with all that extra time?

Businesses will create new lines of revenue and serve new customers. But what about for those of us not making the shots that drive revenue?

Build up your brain power, XD says.

He legit called working with AI like working with a new species. We’re loving that analogy, TBH.

Like, now we have this new alien work partner (AI) that can do incredible things. So instead of fighting it, we’ve gotta work through it and with it, not around it.

Try this:

Skills won’t sharpen themselves.

As AI-first workplaces start to emerge, so too will a newly valued skillset. For decades, it’s been all about who knows what.

With LLMs, though, XD said that a knowledge-based playing field is about to get leveled.

Today’s hot new skills?

Creativity, communication,  connection and critical thinking are good places to start.

Start practicing them.

You’re gonna need em.

Go check out this article about the new skills you gotta build in 2025 and beyond in the world of AI everywhere.

3 – Challengers can thrive in the age of AI 🧍

Even though Zoom is a HUGE company, they’re still taking on the role of challenger, XD said.

Remember point #1 above, about Generative AI being a seismic shift?

When the grounds shift, the competition shakes.

Incumbents may struggle and challengers can thrive.

Try this:

Think of your industry.

Who’s the giant? The untouchable one that’s been sitting atop the throne unbothered for forever and a half.

If your entire department or org starts moving with an AI-first mindset, it’s like all of a sudden you’ve multiplied by 5 in numbers.

Go check out this episode with Barak Turofsky, who is the VP of AI at Cisco, which is one of our favorites about how to use AI to your competitive advantage.
