Trending in AI – By now you’ve probably heard about actors joining writers on strike to face off against Hollywood and AI. But what exactly are they fighting for? Check it out here.

Read This – Some of you may be thinking that only people who work in a tech field can build AI skills. But here are 3 ways to build AI skills, regardless of your job.

1. AI Big Tech Reach an Agreement with US Government 🤝

In a move that's got Silicon Valley buzzing, seven AI heavyweights, including Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, and OpenAI, have made a voluntary pledge to the White House to mitigate AI risks. They've committed to letting independent security experts test their systems pre-launch and to sharing safety data with the government and academia. They're also promising to develop systems to alert the public when content is AI-generated, a.k.a. "watermarking.”

2. OpenAI Credentials are Selling on the Dark Web 😱

Hundreds of thousands of OpenAI credentials are up for sale on the dark web! Cybercriminals are showing a growing interest in generative AI tools like ChatGPT, using them to craft convincing phishing emails. In just six months, ChatGPT was mentioned over 27,000 times on the dark web!

3. AI's Got Some Social Skills, Y'all! 🤖

AI's stepping up its game! A new system designed by a researcher at Ben-Gurion University is now able to identify social norm violations. The system categorizes social emotions into ten main types and analyzes written situations to determine if they're positive or negative.

4. Bay Area: The AI Job Magnet 🧲

The San Francisco Bay Area, already a tech titan, is set to tighten its grip on the industry with the rise of generative AI, according to a new report from the Brookings Institution. The study reveals that a whopping quarter of the roughly 2,200 generative AI job postings in the last year were in the Bay Area.

5. AI in Finance: A Leap into the Future? 💸

AI isn't just the new kid on the block in the financial world, it's been around the block a few times. Since the 1990s, lenders have been using regression models to predict loan qualifications, and these models still form the backbone of finance today. Generative AI models are set to turbocharge the industry, offering hyper-personalized financial products.

🤷‍♂️ What’s Going On and Why It Matters:

Weird show. We know. It was like a 2-for-1 that you didn’t ask for.

Like buying some spicy chicken nuggs at Wendy’s, and them throwing in some cheesy bacon fries you didn’t ask for.

Uggggh… thanks!?

This morning, we set out to exclusively talk about Apple’s new ChatGPT competitor. But at the last minute, there was some of the biggest breaking news in AI in a long time with Big Tech and the US government coming to an initial agreement on regulation.

We’ll talk about that more on Monday, so join us here.

So, let’s continue to break it down with the Apple GPT news.

What happened?

In short, a big report dropped earlier this week about Apple (finally?) getting into the large language model game.

Will Siri finally be smarter?

Will we all have Apple GPT on our iPhones? Take it all in.

🦾How You Can Leverage:

While nothing is officially official, we know this Apple GPT thang is happening.

Whether it’s called Apple GPT, Ajax or something else, all signals point to Apple releasing a smarter AI assistant on all of our devices.

Just another cool feature in our phones?

Not at all.

This is low-key monumental toward our society’s shift toward smart(er) assistants. Sure, we’ve had Siri and Alexa for a bit. They’re cool party tricks.

But as we’ve already seen, more recent GPT and AI tech has the ability to change how we work.

What does it all mean? Will this actually matter? How can I get ready?

It means a lot, but let’s simplify it shorties:

1 – AI is here to stay 👋

Yeah, yeah, yeah. We say this a lot.

But Apple is the last big tech company at the Gen AI dance. Sure, they’ve debuted native voice cloning in their new iOS (yikes, by the way), but that’s been about it.

With Apple GPT/Ajax, this is the last domino to fall in the inevitable shift toward an AI-first society. Like it or not.

Try this:
Stop running from AI. Are you really not using it in your work?

We’ve recommended this before, but start by changing your browser start page from a traditional search to something like Bing Chat, Google’s new search, or even ChatGPT with internet access enabled.

You gotta start it now.

2 – AI/GPT is a required proficiency 📚

We say this all the time: If you can’t get with the basics of Gen AI, it’ll be harder for you to stay employed in the future. (Thank us later on that)

AI and GPT skills are highly sought after (like, up 450% #rocketemoji) right now by employers, but hardly anyone is qualified enough.

Try this:
Learn the basics of AI. There’s great resources all over the web. An easy place to start, our AI in 5 videos cover a good amount.

3 – Keep an eye on Apple’s AI 🕵️‍♂️

Why? Apple has never been first to the party. But when they go all-in on a category, it usually becomes a thing.

Like we talked about in the show, Apple wasn’t the first smartphone, but the iPhone changed not just the industry, but society in general.

Although there’s been plenty of huge splashes in the Generative AI space, like ChatGPT, we expect Apple’s eventual offering to be the game-shifter.

Try this:
Keep an eye out for when and how Apple releases their smarter Siri/AppleGPT/Ajax/Whatever it’s called.

The best way?
