1. Amazon Unveils Q: A New AI Chatbot for the Workplace 🤖

Amazon has announced a new AI chatbot named Q, aimed at enhancing workplace productivity. Revealed at the Amazon Web Services' Reinvent conference, Q is designed to challenge Microsoft and Google in productivity software. Q can assist with AWS capabilities, troubleshoot issues, and integrate with over 40 enterprise systems, including Microsoft 365 and Salesforce.

2. Michigan Takes a Stand Against AI Deception in Politics 🗳️

Michigan is stepping up to regulate artificial intelligence in political advertising. U.S. Governor Gretchen Whitmer is set to sign a bill requiring clear disclosure of AI-generated content in political ads. This legislation targets the use of deepfakes, which are increasingly concerning for their potential to mislead voters and disrupt elections. With this move, Michigan joins a handful of states taking action against deceptive AI in politics, setting a precedent for others to follow.

3. Amazon's AI Chip Trainium2 and Nvidia Partnership 🚀

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is making a significant leap in AI technology with its new Trainium2 chip, designed to train AI models like chatbots. At the same time, AWS is deepening its relationship with Nvidia, offering access to Nvidia's latest H200 AI graphics processing units. This dual strategy positions Amazon strongly against competitors like Microsoft, providing both cost-effective Amazon-branded chips and high-end products from Nvidia.

4. Boehringer's $509M Bet on AI-Driven Cancer Therapy 🧬

Boehringer Ingelheim is investing heavily in AI-driven cancer therapy, partnering with Phenomic AI in a deal worth over $500 million. This collaboration focuses on identifying targets within the tumor stroma, a key structure supporting tumor growth and survival. Phenomic's cutting-edge single-cell RNA computing platform, scTx, is central to this effort, offering high-resolution insights into the tumor stroma and identifying new therapeutic targets.

5. Stability AI's Potential Sale Amid Financial Struggles 🔄

Stability AI, the British startup known for its Stable Diffusion image generator, is considering a sale due to investor pressure over financial issues. The London-based company has been presenting itself as an acquisition target and has engaged in preliminary talks with several firms. However, a sale is not guaranteed, and the company might halt the process without finalizing a deal.

Google Bard Extensions – How they work 💡

We finally found a use case for Google Bard that might just work better than ChatGPT!

If you didn't know, Google Bard has extensions that you can use with it.

We're showing you how Bard extensions work and the ability to summarize YouTube videos!

🤷‍♂️ What’s Going On and Why It Matters:

The month of November has been a straight up roller coaster if you follow OpenAI and ChatGPT.

And we uncovered some SUPER problematic plugin updates that are flying under the radar.

So what’s the skinny with the new updates?

A few weeks ago, the entire interface of ChatGPT was rebuilt. Tons of new bells. So many whistles.

But some changes (and bugs!) to ChatGPT’s plugin mode might be more impactful than you think.

That’s why Jordan tackled the issues on today’s show.

Here’s a sampler platter of what we covered:

  • Importance of using ChatGPT plugins mode for avoiding lies and hallucinations in the generated content

  • Custom GPTs overshadowing plugins due to new functionalities

  • Limitations of custom GPTs including limited communication with external web and services

  • Emphasis on ChatGPT plugins being underutilized and more powerful compared to other large language models

  • Availability of over 1300 ChatGPT plugins for installation

  • New issues with inconsistent plugin performance

And more. Today’s show might be worth a re-watch, so you can see in real-time what’s going sideways in plugins mode and how to avoid it.

Let’s get plugged in. 🔌

🦾How You Can Leverage:

So ChatGPT’s plugin mode changed.

There’s some bugs, and it lost some knowledge. Big whooooopdiedoo.

Why’s this matter?

Glad you (rhetorically) asked.

Even though it looks like a major downgrade for Plugins mode, we still think ChatGPT plugins are a game-changer for your biz.

Let’s break down what’s new with ChatGPT plugins so you can make sense of it all.

1 – Plugins feature or bug? ️🤷

Let’s rip the band-aid off, shall we?

When ChatGPT intro’d its new interface, we had one big feature — the ability to add and delete plugins.

At any time in ChatGPT Plugins mode, you’re limited to only 3 active plugins per chat. Previously, you couldn’t modify plugins. With the new update, you CAN!

…. Except it doesn’t work. And sometimes breaks your chat.

Try this: Don’t despair. What looks like a feature is just a bug or incomplete feature for now.

So while starting a chat in plugins mode, make sure you choose the 3 plugins you think you’ll need the most. For now, you can’t actually use any plugins that swap in or out. So be picky about which 3 you start a chat with. Technically, the 3-plugin setup is still the same as it’s always been.

2 – Plugins lost their memory 🧠

As we mentioned on yesterday’s show about knowledge cutoffs for AI chats, the plugins mode actually got a knowledge downgrade.

(Maybe it’s accidental? We’ll see.)

Previously, plugins mode had a knowledge cutoff of April 2023. With the mid-November refresh, the plugins mode now has a knowledge cutoff of January 2022.

Try this: On the surface, this stinks. Losing 15 months of knowledge in its training data is a huge step backward for your outputs in plugins mode. We’re not sure if this was intentional or a temporary stopgap as OpenAI is tackling server issues.

Buuuuuuut, if you’re properly using plugins, the knowledge cutoff doesn’t actually matter as much as you’d think. We already showed you how to get around the knowledge cutoff with proper prompting and plugins.

3 – Plugins are still a cheat code 🕹

There’s no denying it — even with these updates, ChatGPT is STILL a cheat code.

Like, back 2 seconds, forward B kinda cheat code.

(You remember that cheat code, right?)

Losing 15 months of knowledge = bummer.

The swapping of plugins not actually working = nothing ACTUALLY changed here.

It’s just a new feature that doesn’t work. So, nothing actually changed here.

Try this: We’ll repeat it for those in the back — ChatGPT with plugins is still a cheat code. We have spent thousands of hours talking and experimenting with GenAI. Even with these new plugin updates/setbacks, ChatGPT with plugins is still the most powerful and underutilized GenAI tool that can actually help you grow your career and company.
