(TBH, we’d say it’s Google’s disjointed and confusing AI go-to-market strategy. Like… how many hoops we gotta jump through to make Gemini work with Google Workspace accounts?)
In a Stanford talk posted today, Eric Schmidt says the reason why Google is losing to @OpenAI and other startups is because Google only has people coming in 1 day per week 👀

1. Gemini Live Launches Today: Voice Chats Just Got Smarter 🎙️
Gemini Live, Google's latest AI chatbot feature, is rolling out today, promising more natural and emotionally expressive conversations on smartphones. Announced at the Made by Google 2024 event, this hands-free tool allows users to interrupt and ask follow-up questions, with the chatbot adapting in real time.
Although it lacks the multimodal input feature shown earlier this year, that’s coming soon according to reports, along with a broader language support and iOS availability. Exclusively available through the Google One AI Premium Plan for $20/month, Gemini Live aims to outshine OpenAI's Advanced Voice Mode with its extended memory and integration into various Google services.
2. Google Unveils New AI-Powered Pixel Lineup 📱
In a bold move to try and outshine Apple and Samsung, Google has launched an impressive array of new AI-infused devices, including the Pixel 9 series, a foldable phone, two smartwatches, and earbuds.
The new Pixel 9 phones feature the advanced Tensor G4 chip and introduce Gemini Live, an AI assistant aimed at facilitating natural conversations. The highlight is the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, boasting one of the largest flexible screens in the market. Also announced were the Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Buds Pro 2, both incorporating cutting-edge AI tech to enhance user experience.
3. Huawei's AI Chip to Rival Nvidia's 💾
In a bold move amid U.S. sanctions, Chinese tech giant Huawei Technologies is gearing up to launch its new AI processor, the Ascend 910C, as early as October, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Recent tests by Chinese internet and telecom giants suggest this chip could rival Nvidia’s H100, which has been restricted from the Chinese market due to national security concerns. Potential clients like ByteDance and Baidu are already eyeing the 910C, with expected orders exceeding 70,000 chips, potentially generating $2 billion in sales.
This development could significantly impact AI capabilities for Chinese companies and pose a competitive threat to Nvidia’s dominance.
4. Microsoft AI Tour: A Global Movement Begins 🌍
Microsoft is taking its Copilot AI on tour. Starting September 24, 2024, Microsoft is launching its AI Tour, a global initiative spanning over 60 cities, including major hubs like Mexico City, Johannesburg, and Berlin.
This free one-day event targets both business leaders and technical experts, offering AI thought leadership, hands-on workshops, and networking opportunities.
Key figures like Satya Nadella and Judson Althoff will be making appearances to share insights on AI's transformative potential. According to Microsoft, this tour aims to provide practical solutions to improve productivity and drive significant business impact.
5. OpenAI Enhances AI's Coding Smarts with SWE-bench Update 👩💻
OpenAI has just released an upgraded version of SWE-bench, a tool that evaluates AI's ability to tackle real-world coding issues. This new human-validated subset, known as SWE-bench Verified, promises more accurate assessments by eliminating problematic test samples.
According to OpenAI, this update significantly boosts the performance of their models, with GPT-4o now resolving 33.2% of tasks, compared to previous scores. This leap forward in evaluating AI's coding capabilities marks a crucial step in ensuring AI models can autonomously handle software engineering tasks, a key metric for assessing medium-risk model autonomy.

An AI bubble?
PFT.
Despite what news outlets and social media may be saying, there’s no AI bubble.
On today’s show, we brought the receipts and in-depth proof dismantling the ill-conceived concept that there’s an AI bubble.
Guess what shorties?
AI is synonymous with work. Generative AI and large language models are just the way business gets done now.
So to say that AI is a bubble ready to burst is like saying business itself is a bubble — just doesn’t make sense y’all.
Case in point?
The 6 biggest companies in the U.S. — all Tech Titans and household names — have shifted their focus and gone all in on AI.
Ready to tear down this aI bubble nonsense?
Samesies, besties.
Let’s go one-by-one, and go over the 6 most common mistakes the know-it-nothings are making when they’re laughingly trying to fit AI into a bursting bubble.
Let’s get it. 👇
1 – Looking at momentary trillion dollar losses in market swings 💹
Y'all losing your minds over trillion-dollar losses?
Chill.
The S&P dropped 5% and suddenly everyone's screaming doomsday. Literally. A few days of stock slides and the world was screaming AI BUBBBBBBLE!!!!
Newsflash: The market's still up 20% over the last year. That ain't no bubble – that's called perspective, shorties.
On the flip side? It’s been super common to see the Tech Titans collective ADD a trillion or two on any given day.
Try This:
Next time you see a headline screaming market meltdown, pull up a 1-year or 2-year S&P chart.
Bet that "massive drop" looks like a speed bump on the highway to gains-ville. Don't let the media hype mess with your head – zoom out and see the bigger picture.
Panic averted.
2 – AI in controlled by Big Tech, not small startups 💪
Unlike the dotcom mess, this AI wave is powered by the big dogs.
We're talking decades of experience and cash stacks taller than Everest.
Microsoft, Nvidia, Apple, Amazon, Google, Meta – these ain't no fly-by-night operations.
They're reshaping entire industries, and they've been household names for 15-25 years.
Try This:
Peep the top 5 AI breakthroughs you've heard about lately. Now check who's behind 'em. Bet it's mostly those same big names, not "TechBro.ai Inc." Follow the money trail and you'll see – this ain't no startup gold rush, it's a tech titan takeover.
We’ve never been here before, so stop trying to apply Gartner Hype cycle rules to a non-existent bubble.
3 – Companies think that AI investment doesn’t show ROI 📊
Companies crying about no AI returns?
Patience shorties.
They're planting seeds on concrete and wondering why nothing's growing in two weeks. Sheesh.
This ain't a microwave dinner – it's a whole new way of working. You can't just drop an AI seed and expect a money tree to sprout overnight.
Try This:
Don’t believe us that AI ROI is a wait-and-see process? How about if a Global Lead of AI Enterprise at Microsoft told you the same thing?
Pick one simple yet time-consuming task AI could improve this week that many in your company repetitively take on.
Learn how to properly apply the right AI solution.
Measure the time saved.
That's your baseline.
Then, triple down on training your peeps.
AI implementation isn’t just a tech project. This is change management 101, fam.
You gotta unlearn the old to make room for the new AI-powered hustle.
4 – AI spending is too high without monetization 🤑
Y'all out here trying to build custom AI when the good stuff's already on the shelf.
Companies are rushing to figure out a long-term, 7- or 8-figure AI implementation project and wondering why monetization is hard to find.
(Hint: It’s prolly under your nose)
For $30/mo per user, Microsoft 365 Copilot's turning day-long tasks into minute-long miracles. That's more than ROI; that's straight-up sorcery.
(Remember: saved time = saved money.)
Try this:
Copilot vs. Old School Smackdown. Take a gnarly task like turning spreadsheet hell into presentation heaven. Race your old method against Copilot. Watch jaws drop as hours shrink to minutes.
Here’s some dead simple ways to save time and money, even with the free version of Microsoft Copilot inside the Edge browser.
5 – Thinking AI is a feature. (It’s the future) 🔮
Thinking AI is just another tech trend?
That's like saying the internet was just a fad in the '90s.
Wake up!
Every single app, tool, and platform you use is going AI-first. It's not a bubble – it's evolution, baby. This is how we work now, whether you like it or not.
Try This:
Look at your daily grind.
Now imagine every single task enhanced by AI.
Scary? Exciting?
Either way, that's where we're headed. Start small – pick one daily task and find an AI tool to help. Get comfy with the idea that AI isn't going away; it's becoming part of everything.
Want some inspiration?
6 – AI startups dying doesn’t mean the AI bubble is bursting 🫧
Yeah, lots of AI startups are biting the dust.
But that's not a bubble popping – it's survival of the fittest, tech edition. When ChatGPT dropped PDF reading, a hundred "chat with your PDF" startups became irrelevant overnight.
That's not a bubble bursting, that's big tech flexing. And when one Big AI Tech adds another groundbreaking feature, usually the other 3 or 4 scramble to keep up.
Try This:
When an AI startup kicks the bucket, see what Big Tech offering replaces it.
(There’s almost ALWAYS a correlation every time a GPT or AI feature wrapper dies.)
That's where the real value is. Don't mourn the fallen – watch where the giants are stepping next. That's your roadmap to the AI future, fam.
We went all in on AI startups dying, and predicted the trend before they started dropping like flies.
(Sorry not sorry. Make better products.)
