This development comes as Musk aligns with President-elect Donald Trump’s tech agenda, signaling potential shifts in AI policy by repealing Biden’s executive order. With xAI’s Grok chatbot already challenging giants like OpenAI and Google, this investment could reshape the AI landscape and influence tech innovation globally.

2. AI Scaling Up, No Slowdown in Sight! 📈

In the latest episode of "The Diary of A CEO" podcast, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt confidently dismissed fears of an AI slowdown, emphasizing that large language models continue to scale at an unprecedented rate. Despite reports of performance plateaus from major players like OpenAI and Google, Schmidt forecasts "two or three more turns of the crank" in AI advancements over the next five years.

This comes amid ongoing debates in Silicon Valley on the sustainability of scaling laws, which theorize that AI models will keep improving with more data and computing power. A new study from the University of Pittsburgh reveals that non-experts now struggle to distinguish AI-generated poetry from works by renowned poets like Shakespeare and Dickinson. Surprisingly, participants often rated AI-generated poems higher in quality, suggesting a shift in perceptions as AI sophistication grows.

Despite this, there remains a bias against AI-authored works when their origin is disclosed. This finding indicates that as AI continues to evolve, our expectations and assumptions about creativity and authorship may need reevaluation.

4. Musk vs. OpenAI: The Legal Showdown Intensifies 🥊

In a dramatic development, Elon Musk has escalated his legal battle against OpenAI, adding Microsoft as a defendant and his own company, xAI, as a plaintiff in an amended lawsuit, according to TechCrunch. Musk, once a key supporter of OpenAI, accuses the company of anti-competitive practices aimed at stifling rivals like xAI by allegedly coercing investors into exclusive deals.

The lawsuit also implicates OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman and LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, claiming they betrayed Musk's vision by aligning too closely with Microsoft, which has invested heavily in OpenAI.
