1. Apple Joins Biden’s AI Safety Guidelines 🇺🇸

Apple is hopping on the AI safety train, agreeing to the Biden administration's voluntary guidelines just in time for its Apple Intelligence rollout this fall. This suite will kick off with iOS 18, featuring everything from a revamped Siri to photo generation and writing tools, all designed to make your digital life a breeze.

Although these safety rules are currently just good faith commitments and not legally enforceable, Apple’s cooperation signals a big step towards responsible AI development

2. Hollywood's Voice Actors Strike Back Over AI Concerns 🎬

Video game voice actors and motion-capture performers have officially launched a strike effective July 26 after unsuccessful negotiations for a new Interactive Media Agreement focused on AI-related protections.

The SAG-AFTRA union, which represents these performers, has been in talks with major companies like Activision, Electronic Arts, and Disney since the previous agreement expired in November 2022, but employers have not agreed to enforceable language to safeguard performers against AI exploitation.

3. OpenAI's ChatGPT Set to Release Voice Feature Next Week 🗣

OpenAI is gearing up to unveil its new voice feature for ChatGPT Plus subscribers next week. Although the company initially showcased this feature back in May, they decided to remove the voice option, leaving fans eagerly awaiting its return.

This launch is particularly noteworthy as ChatGPT is also set to be integrated with Siri, promising to revolutionize how users interact with their devices.

4. Google DeepMind AI Models Grab Silver at Olympiad 🧮

Google DeepMind just dropped a bombshell with their new math-solving AI models, AlphaProof and AlphaGeometry 2, who teamed up to score a silver medal at this year’s International Mathematical Olympiad!

These brainiacs tackled tough problems that left humans scratching their heads, proving they can handle advanced reasoning like pros. With their success, experts are buzzing about the potential for AI to revolutionize how we approach complex math challenges.

🦾How You Can Leverage:

AI has promised us productivity on a silver platter.

Like, ‘hit this red Easy button and all your boring work is automagically completed by Generative AI.’

Nope.

Not that easy.

And even when AI and large language models DO delivery on straight up OMG levels of productivity on autopilot, is there a downside to that?

What about those in companies that can’t catch the AI bug? Could those really surfing the AI wave cause productivity rifts in the same department?

If you haven’t figured it out yet, GenAI implementation is as much about change management as it is about the AI itself.

Dean Guida knows that.

Dean is the founder and CEO of Infragistics, which builds tools for UI/UX design, app development, and business intelligence. Dean’s and has spent 35 years riding the waves of tech innovation.

If you’re still searching for that productivity sweet spot, today’s episode should help you get there.

Dean dished on what’s worked and what hasn’t in his company, and his best advice for getting the most out of AI without living anyone behind.

(Or being so productive that everyone’s burned out like pulling 2 straight all nighters to finish that midterm back in undergrad. Like… where was ChatGPT then?!)

Let’s dive a bit deeper into today’s show and give you the 1-2-3 of whatchya need to know.

1-2-333333333333 👇

1 –The AI Adoption Tug-of-War 🤼‍♂️

Dean's seeing a sometimes wild scene in the software world.

Some teams are going full throttle with AI, expecting to leave everyone in the dust. But plot twist: not all companies are seeing the crazy productivity boost they dreamed of. Meanwhile, old-school devs are side-eyeing these AI tools like they're some kind of productivity Trojan horse.

CIOs are dreaming of 30% productivity boosts, but reality's serving up a big ol' slice of "not so fast."

Try This:

Launch an "AI Reality Check" week. Get your teams to log their AI usage and actual productivity gains. No sugar-coating allowed. Then, compare notes. You might find that AI's crushing it in some areas but falling flat in others. Use this intel to craft an AI strategy that's more 'smart tool' and less 'magic wand.'

And/or, make sure you check out this episode, which will ramp up adoption in no time shorties.

2 – Bridging the AI Skills Chasm 🤹

Dean's noticing a growing gap between the AI haves and have-nots.

(Same.)

It's not just about who can use the tools. It's about who can think critically about AI's output. Some folks are becoming AI-dependent, while others are getting left in the digital dust.

This isn't just a tech problem. It's about keeping your whole team sharp in an AI-augmented world. Dean's seeing companies struggle to find this balance, risking a workforce that's either over-reliant on AI or unable to leverage it effectively.

Try This:

More AI training leads to higher AI adoption.

More AI can lead to WAY more productivity.

And that can unfortunately lead to … burnout.

Go check out this article from Forbes about balancing AI workforce retention and productivity.

3 – The Human Edge in an AI World 🤖

Here's Dean's mic drop moment: In the AI gold rush, don't lose sight of the human element.

He's seeing the most success not in teams that use AI the most, but in those that blend AI efficiency with human creativity and judgment.

This isn't about AI versus humans. It's about finding that sweet spot where tech and human ingenuity create something greater than the sum of its parts. Dean's hinting that this might be the real key to unlocking AI's potential.

Try This:

Launch "Human-Only Hackathons" followed by "AI Amplify" sessions. First, tackle complex problems using only human brainpower. Then, bring in the AI tools to see how they can enhance (not replace) those human-generated solutions.

This approach helps your team see AI as a powerful collaborator, not a job-stealing boogeyman.
