1. Meta's AI Profiles Create a Stir on Social Media 👀

Meta's recent push to enhance AI-generated content on its platforms has sparked backlash from users, who are now encountering a fleet of AI-managed profiles, including personas like Scarlett and Izzy. While these accounts were part of a test launched in 2023, their re-emergence coincides with Meta's ambitious plans for AI characters to engage users more deeply.

Users are frustrated by the lack of straightforward options to block these profiles, leading to confusion and dissatisfaction among those who prefer human interaction on social media.

2. Anthropic Settles Copyright Suit Over AI Lyrics 🧑‍⚖️

Anthropic has reached a settlement in a copyright infringement lawsuit concerning its Claude AI model, which allegedly used song lyrics from over 500 protected tracks without proper licensing. The agreement, approved by US District Judge Eumi Lee, mandates Anthropic to reinforce its guardrails to prevent copyright violations in future AI training while allowing music publishers to intervene when necessary.

This case underscores the ongoing tension between AI development and copyright law, as music publishers push back against unauthorized use of their content.

3. Grok 3's Delay Raises Eyebrows in AI Community 🤔

xAI’s anticipated AI model, Grok 3, is notably absent as the promised late 2024 launch has come and gone without any sign of its arrival. Reports indicate that an intermediate version, Grok 2.5, may surface first, adding to the uncertainty surrounding xAI’s developmental timelines.

This trend of missed deadlines isn't unique to xAI; companies like Anthropic and Google are also grappling with similar delays, hinting at potential limitations within current AI scaling strategies.

4. Microsoft's $80 Billion Bet on AI Data Centers 🏭

Microsoft is making headlines with its ambitious plan to invest around $80 billion in AI-enabled data centers throughout fiscal 2025, as revealed in a recent blog post. This move aims to enhance the training of artificial intelligence models and support the deployment of AI and cloud-based applications.

With shares rising 1% to $423 following the announcement, this investment underscores the tech giant's commitment to staying at the forefront of AI innovation.

5. Alibaba Cloud Partners with 01.AI to Boost AI Solutions 🤝

Alibaba Cloud has teamed up with startup 01.AI to enhance its AI offerings, aiming to create advanced AI solutions for businesses. This partnership comes amid fierce domestic price competition, prompting Alibaba to significantly reduce prices for its AI models by up to 85%.

With this collaboration, Alibaba is not just keeping pace but actively shaping the future of AI in business, potentially benefiting companies looking to leverage these technologies.

6. FTC Slaps AccessiBe with $1 Million Fine for Deceptive Practices 💸

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has proposed a $1 million fine against accessiBe, a startup claiming to enhance website accessibility for blind users, due to false advertising and undisclosed sponsorship of reviews. The FTC's order not only aims to compensate affected customers but also mandates that accessiBe clearly disclose any ties to endorsers, addressing concerns about the effectiveness of its AI-powered tools.

Many advocacy groups have criticized accessiBe for misleading claims, which have resulted in class action lawsuits from dissatisfied clients. With this ruling, the FTC emphasizes the importance of truthful marketing in the accessibility sector

Which ones came out on top?

Find out in today's AI in 5.

🦾How You Can Leverage:

Parenting can already be a full-time job.

Throw in a revolving door of stances, rules and outlooks on Generative AI in the classroom, though, and that full-time job may start to seem like pulling double shifts.

Dan Fitzpatrick joined Everyday AI to help us all ease the burden and also tackle the challenges of proper education on AI in schools.

Dan is the Founder and Co-Director of The AI Educator, where he helps consult school districts on proper AI implementation in the classroom.

So, what did we learn today?

Are Universities that don’t adopt gonna die off?

Is there a danger to personalized AI education?

And how can we actually support children to make sense of it all?

Make sure you listen to today’s episode before diving into our Big 3 takeaways.

Here we goooooooo. 👇

1 – Lack of AI Education in Education 🤖

Dan said that seven out of ten teachers have never received AI training. Zero. Zip. Nada.

Most schools are treating ChatGPT like it's 1995's Internet Explorer. Block it and forget it.

These same teachers are making rules about AI tools they've never touched. It's like having a driver's ed instructor who's never seen a car.

The math ain't mathing, fam.

Try this:

Schedule a quick chat with your kid's teacher.

Like…. You read this newsletter. You know how AI works. You might have to educate the educators.

Share your screen and show them exactly how you use AI at work. Create a simple guide comparing good AI use (refining essay ideas) versus sketchy stuff (copying whole papers).

Offer to run a lunch-and-learn for the department. Show them AI isn't the enemy – it's just a really smart calculator that speaks English.

2 – The Rise of Education’s Shadow Economy 📚

The education monopoly just got disrupted.

Hard.

Alternative schools are popping up faster than TikTok dances.

Synthesis School (backed by SpaceX brains) is teaching kids with AI tutors.

Khan Academy's rolling out personalized AI learning across the U.S.

Online schools are eating traditional education's lunch. Hom nom.

Private schools are going all-in on AI while public schools debate whether to allow smartphones.

Try this:

Is your kid’s school stuck in 1999?

Wanna see an example of the future of education in action?

Jump on Synthesis School's platform tonight.

Test drive their AI tutor. Compare it to traditional homework help.

Give Khan Academy's Khanmigo a test drive.

Join three parent groups focused on alternative education.

Create a spreadsheet tracking which alternative programs are actually delivering results.

Share your findings in your school's parent group.

Start the conversation about bringing these tools into your kid's classroom.

3 – AI Preparation Start at Home 🏠

Real talk: Your kid's already an AI power user. They just don't know it.

Those Snapchat filters? AI.

TikTok's recommendation engine? AI.

Their favorite game's NPCs? You guessed it.

Or maybe they’ve been acing their homework for years with ChatGPT and they’re not telling you.

The best AI education isn't happening in schools.

It's happening at kitchen tables and in Discord servers.

The parents waiting for schools to catch up are already three updates behind.

Try this:

Make a list of every AI-powered app on your kid's phone.

Yep, including the games.

Sit down together and break down how each one works.

Turn their Snapchat obsession into a lesson about Prompt Engineering and augmented intelligence.

Use ChatGPT to help with homework, but make them explain their prompts.

Create a shared document tracking which AI tools actually help versus which ones waste time.

Talk about AI safety like you talk about social media – regular, real, and no fear-mongering.
