2. Meta's Clash with EU Regulators: Multimodal AI Drama Unfolds 🇪🇺

Meta has decided to withhold its upcoming multimodal AI model from the European Union due to regulatory uncertainties and it’s sparked a showdown with EU regulators. This move not only affects Meta's future products but also highlights the growing tension between US tech giants and European regulators.

The clash stems from concerns over data privacy laws, particularly GDPR, and the interpretation of existing regulations in different regions.

3. Google’s Air-Gapped Distributed Cloud for AI Edge Computing ☁️

Google has released an air-gapped version of the Google Distributed Cloud for AI Edge computing. This means enterprises can now harness Google's powerful cloud infrastructure even in the most challenging environments outside of Google's data centers.

The hardware, put together by big names like Cisco, HP Enterprise, and Dell, is set to revolutionize how AI workloads are managed in disconnected areas.

GPT-4o Mini: OpenAI releases new small GPT-4o Mini model

OpenAI just dropped a game-changer: GPT-4o Mini!

  • But what does it mean for you and the world of AI?

  • Is this sleek, small model set to revolutionize AI usage, or is it a tool designed just for developers?

  • How does it stack up against competitors like Claude 3.5?

Let's dive in and explore the possibilities!

🦾How You Can Leverage:

Feeling like your enterprise is stuck in the AI slow lane?

Time for a wake up call, enterprise leaders.

Luckily, we had some help today from a literal world leader to help us figure it all out.

Microsoft's Rajamma Krishnamurthy, Senior Director of Enterprise AI, joined Everyday AI today and dropped a treasure trove of insights on how big companies can finally kick their AI efforts into high gear.

The shortened version ain’t gonna do Rajamma’s wisdom justice, TBH, so you should probably go give it a watch and/or listen

But if you’re working in the corporate world and your org STILL hasn’t picked up the AI momentum, we gotchu shorties.

Let's break down the roadmap to AI success, enterprise-style. 👇

1 – AI isn’t the destination 🙅

Rajamma's first bombshell?

Stop asking, "How do I implement AI?" and start asking, "What's my business strategy?"

Loved this hot take quote:

"AI is not the destination. It's your accelerator.”

So true.

We often just look past the whole ‘end goal’ thang and think AI is the actual end goal.

It’s not.

It’s the rocket fuel. But Generative AI can not only change the time it takes, but also the route.

Try this:

Take a page from Rajamma's playbook.

She uses Copilot daily as her personal, unpaid assistant.

"It gives me the summary that I need to focus on today," she shares.

Imagine that time-saving magic across your entire org. Game-changer, right?

Same destination, different journey.

Rajamma suggests starting with the low-hanging fruit. And we showed you EXACTLY how to do that in Microsoft Edge the other day.

(So many cheat codes here.)

2 – Spend a lot and don’t worry ROI (yet) 💸

Brace yourselves, bean counters. This one might sting a bit. Lolz

Rajamma's throwing down the gauntlet:

"Don't worry too much about the cost and the ROI just yet." Wait, what?

I know, I know. It sounds crazy. But hear her out.

Like… you really gonna argue with a Sr. Director of Enterprise AI at Microsoft?

Pft.

You have to start small, be patient and stay the course.

Know that AI is here to stay, and there’s no other way for your company to survive and thrive without going all in on Generative AI.

“Don't worry too much about the cost and the ROI just yet.” — Words from Rajamma, not us.

Here's the deal: AI isn't your typical tech investment.

It's not a new laptop or a software license. It's a fundamental shift in how business operates. It’s change management. It’s rewiring how humans work.

Sure, you could wait. Let others make the mistakes. Play it safe.

But Rajamma's warning is clear: "You're already a year or two late in the space of generative AI."

Ouuuuuuuch. Harsh words. But true.

Try this:

We thought we’d have fun with that whole, ‘Don’t worry about ROI yet’ phase. Whether you’re an enterprise or small biz, take this 3-step plan and make it your own.

A. Create an "AI Sandbox Fund."

Allocate 5-10% of your innovation budget specifically for AI experiments. No strings attached.

B. Launch an "AI Moonshot Program."

Encourage teams to pitch wildly ambitious AI projects. Fund and support the top three. (Extra bonus — have employees be the voters)

C. Implement a "No ROI Zone" for AI initiatives in their first 6 months.

Focus on learning, not immediate returns.

3 – Three AI pillars for enterprise success

Yeah, yeah. So many lists and steps, right?

Well Rajamma gave us too much good advice today, so we had to break Step 3 into 3 steps.

So, let’s assume your org FINALLY moves off the AI fence and decides it wants to stay in business in the long-run.

(No pun intended. Doesn’t matter how big your enterprise is. Without GenAI, you’ll fail.

Once you’re off that fence and have your ethics and governance in place,  it’s time to get to work.

Try this:

Here’s the three pillars for AI success.

A. Business Strategy First, AI Second

Forget the AI hype train. Your business strategy is still the engine.

AI? It's the turbo boost.

Start with your core business problems.

Where are you stuck?

What's holding you back?

That's where GenAI comes in, Rajamma said. It's not about having AI for the sake of it.

It's about leveraging AI to solve real, meaty business challenges.

B. Data, Models, Infrastructure

Got your strategy nailed down? Great.

Now it's time to get your hands dirty with the dorky stuff. Yaaaaaaay data.

Take a good, hard look at your data. Is it enough? Is it clean?

Next up, models.

Which ones fit your needs?

Copilot? GPT-4o mini?Maybe Claude 3.5? Off-the-shelf or custom-built?

(Yeah, we’re not answering those questions. They’re for you.)

Finally, infrastructure.

Can your current setup handle the AI workload, or are you due for an upgrade?

This is where the rubber meets the road, folks. To get that juicy AI productivity, you gotta do the hard work of planting the seeds and harvesting, y’all.

C. Education, Culture, Adoption

Here's where most enterprises fumble the ball.

(Nooooooo!)

AI isn't just a tech upgrade – it's a culture shift.

You need to educate every level of your organization, from the C-suite to the front lines. But education alone isn't enough.

You need buy-in. Adoption. Enthusiasm.

This is about transforming how your entire organization thinks and works.

Rajamma called it out like we do: “Have everybody learn prompt engineering.”

Are you gonna argue w/ her?

Or.
