Using AI chats like ChatGPT is great for easy and helpful content creation but sometimes it can sound a little robotic...unless you're doing it correctly.

Today Audrey Chia, founder of Close with Copy, joins us to discuss how you can use AI to make content that converts and sounds authentic.

🤷‍♂️ What’s Going On and Why It Matters:

“AI stinks because … look at this crappy ChatGPT writing. It’s sooooo robotic”

You’ve probably heard this. Or seen someone post online.

We’ll let you in on a secret.

Ready?

…

…

That person who shared that crappy ChatGPT writing just stinks at using AI. (Sorry not sorry)

We’re biased, of course, but we think today’s episode is a must-listen.

Audrey Chia is the founder of Close with Copy and dished her best tips for getting more out of your ChatGPT copy.

Couple Audrey’s chops for AI copy with the fact our host, Jordan, has been getting paid to write for big brands for 20+ years and you’ve got a SUPER impactful show.

So what happens when you get two writing pros and GPT aficionados on a live show for 26 minutes?

So many nuggets of info you’d think you were in the Wendy’s drive-thru. (Shoutout Chance the Rapper for bringing Spicy Nuggs back)

First order of business — give today’s episode a listen. Or, a second listen.

Now, let’s break it all down 👇

🦾How You Can Leverage:

So, ChatGPT can write really good copy?

Yes.

And it can write better than us all with proper training.

(Editor's note: I won national writing awards and won a Pulitzer Fellowship, yet ChatGPT can produce similar content at 20X the speed. So yes, ChatGPT can writer better/faster than us all with proper training. More on that below)

So, how can we turn C+ roboty copy into sparkling prose that oozes humanity?

Simple. We broke it down for ya.

1 – Use the right tool for the right job ⚒️

This is the number one mistake: know what information you need out of ChatGPT.

And more likely than not, you’ll need ChatGPT Plus. Unless you enjoy hallucinations and facts from 2021, which is what you get with the free version of ChatGPT.

Try this: Maybe ChatGPT isn’t your thing. (But if it is, just use ChatGPT Plus with plugins and you’ve got the right tool for the job!) That’s OK. There’s still hundreds of other AI writers on the market. Audrey dished it all in the podcast, but she even shared this handy guide on the best AI-powered copywriting tools for each type of writing.

2 – Give examples to guide ChatGPT 💡

Audrey was on point with this one.

ChatGPT isn’t a one-shot game. She shared her secrets over going through multiple versions of copy and giving feedback along the way.

Try this: In ChatGPT Plus, give examples of your writing or tone of voice as webpages, and make sure you have a ChatGPT web plugin enabled. We’ve been all on board with this tip since Day 1, and Audrey has too.

So if you want ChatGPT to write more like you (or just sound less robotic), you need to give specific examples of the tone of voice that you’d want ChatGPT to write in. Upload your best writing on a single page and use that as your guide.

3 – Human touch and training is key 🏋️‍♀️

Don’t forget that we’re all humans, yo!

Well, most of us. 🤖

Audrey’s advice here was on point: to sound less robotic in your ChatGPT-powered writing, make sure a human is involved. And, keep the humans you’re writing for in mind. Use ChatGPT to better research on your ideal demographic, and understand the human emotions they may be feeling before writing your copy.

Try this: Keep humans involved in the writing process, and train ChatGPT through writing for human emotions.

A good way to do that?
