Runway Director Mode Tutorial 🎬

We're back again with another new update from Runway!

Runway's new tool called Director Mode, gives you camera controls to create a video with custom camera angles and perspective shifts.

We’re showing you how it works!

🤷‍♂️ What’s Going On and Why It Matters:

Using Generative AI is just about improving your productivity, right?

Just the newest tool to turn us from mortal keyboard crunchers to output demigods.

Kinda.

But it’s SO much more than that.

Today, we were stoked to have Microsoft’s Carol S. Scott on the show to show us the other side of generative AI: the key piece to grow your leadership and to learn more.

Carol is the Senior Director of Software & Digital Platforms at Microsoft.

She gave us a behind-the-scenes look at how the darling of the AI Ball, Microsoft Copilot, can do SO much more than 10X your productivity.

Carol not only talked about how she’s using Copilot personally, but also gave us some best-practice tips for enterprise teams to get the most out of Copilot.

Because as you know, we think Microsoft 365 Copilot will change the way the world works.

Yet, today’s talk wasn’t about productivity. Instead, we talked about how the worlds of learning and leadership are changing because of GenAI systems like Copilot.

No longer do we have to learn through books longer than a CVS receipt or have to lead alone.

When it comes to learning new skills and leading with confidence, it doesn’t have to be a solo task. GenAI can be your … copilot.

😅

Today is one of those interviews that you just GOTTA give a listen. (Or, listen to again.)

But, if you’re looking for the tl;dr version of today’s show: here’s what Jordan and Carol uncovered:

  • Carol's favorite feature of Microsoft 365 Copilot

  • The challenges of using generative AI, including skilling, adoption, and the need for leaders to embrace and understand the pace of change.

  • Enterprise Copilot supercharging and differentiating corporate data in the Microsoft ecosystem

  • Gen AI's impact on learning and development

  • Examples of using Copilot for summarizing articles, creating workshops, and simulations for coaching

  • Using AI to stay updated, research, and stay ahead in AI development

  • Incorporating AI copilots in piloting tasks and changing the way work is done and decisions are made

That’s just what’s on the top of our heads.

Want more?

(That was rhetorical y’all. You gosh darn right you want more!)

Let’s break it down and talk about what it all means. 👇

🦾How You Can Leverage:

Even if you don’t have access to Microsoft 365 Copilot yet, the takeaways from today’s show are legit golden.

Let’s be honest, y’all. It’s not every day you get behind-the-scenes AI takeaways from the leaders who are actually building it.

In short, Carol laid out an ideal way to use GenAI to learn more and lead better.

Here’s our take:

1 – Find your poetry passion 📝

Carol told the story of one of her first AI deep dives — using ChatGPT to write poetry.

Sometimes, people think tapping into Generative AI requires some deep technical knowledge. Not so much.

Try this:
Instead of learning a generative AI platform through the lens of work, get your first miles in on a passion project.

Soon enough, the learning curve will be gone, you’re having fun, and now you have the applicable AI skills to translate to your biz or career.

Looking for inspiration? Go back and listen to our ‘Build a Brand Live’ episode 1 for some ideas.

2 – Reframe your role 🤔

Throughout all of our working lives, we’ve ultimately been in control.

Sure, you might have a boss or three.

But, we’re still the decision-makers. The button-pushers.

Well, that’s changing.

But we’ve gotta take the ‘copilot’ term more literally when it comes to the future of work. Especially with AI now coming to the operating system like Microsoft Copilot.

Try this:
Carol even talked about her personal experience with starting an air charter business with her husband. Sometimes you’re flying. Sometimes you’re copiloting. And sometimes, you’re hands-off.

Our take here:
If you want to lead in the future, think about how your role may change. And work TOWARD that future instead of fighting AGAINST it.

3 – Simulate, Iterate, Learn 🧠

Carol dropped some of the simplest, yet most effective, pieces of advice for learning in the age of GenAI — using it to summarize longer articles and to simulate the learning process.

Try this:
Don’t think of AI as an extension of yourself. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That’s what the “AI leaders” tell us to do.

But let’s flip that thinking on its head, shorties.
Instead, think of how GenAI can help you BEFORE and AFTER.

What’s that mean?

Think of your next big project. Instead of having an AI be an extension of your own abilities, assign a front-end tool (like ChatGPT) to do the prep work of learning for you, then take a page outta Carol’s book and have ChatGPT on the backend simulate a consultant, poking holes in your project.

Now This …
