1. Amazon's $4 Billion Anthropic AI Deal Approved by UK 🇬🇧

The UK's Competition and Markets Authority has cleared Amazon's $4 billion partnership with AI startup Anthropic, citing insufficient market share to warrant deeper scrutiny. This decision underscores the growing trend of Big Tech investing heavily in AI startups, a move that could reshape the landscape of generative AI technology.

Anthropic, known for its focus on AI safety, will utilize Amazon Web Services and custom chips to enhance its models, potentially accelerating innovation in the sector.

2. Meta to Generate AI Content on Facebook and Instagram 🤔

Meta is stepping into uncharted territory by testing personalized AI-generated content tailored to individual users' interests and likenesses. Announced at their recent developers conference, this initiative aims to fill Facebook and Instagram feeds with AI-crafted posts that could make users the stars of their own stories.

While users can opt out of this auto-generated content, the move raises eyebrows given the mixed reception of AI in media, where many find such creations lackluster and uninspired.

3. Google's NotebookLM Gets Another Update 🚀

In a fresh update, Google's Gemini-powered NotebookLM is upping the ante on AI-assisted learning by introducing Audio Overviews that can summarize educational content from text and YouTube videos. This new feature not only allows users to digest material audibly but also enables the sharing of audio summaries via public URLs.

This tool promises to enhance comprehension while promoting healthier study habits over academic dishonesty. According to the tech giant, these improvements may just transform how we engage with learning materials, making education more accessible and interactive than ever.

4. Gmail Smart Replies Get Gemini Update 📨

Google is rolling out a Gemini-powered update to Gmail, enhancing smart replies to provide more tailored responses that consider the entire email thread. This new feature, now available for select subscribers, allows users to preview and choose contextual replies that reflect their personal style—saving time and adding a touch of variety to automated responses.

With the ability to include greetings and sign-offs, users might find themselves typing less and responding more efficiently, a boon for those juggling busy inboxes.

5. Meta's AI Plans Spark Privacy Backlash 😳

Meta's recent announcement to use millions of Facebook and Instagram posts for AI training has ignited a wave of user protests. Despite the viral "Goodbye Meta AI" message circulating as a supposed means to opt out, experts clarify that sharing such posts offers no legal protection against data usage.

Instead, Meta has assured users that they can formally object via a notification linking to an opt-out form arriving soon. As privacy advocates raise alarms about involuntary participation in AI training, the average user’s content could unwittingly contribute to shaping future technology unless they actively assert their rights.

🦾How You Can Leverage:

Think you're in control of your shopping habits?

Lolz.

Think again.

Whether y’all see it or not, AI's usually pulling strings behind those "random" sales, manipulating your experience like a puppet master on steroids.

DANCE CONSUMER DANCE!

While we've been chatting with Alexa, AI's been busy rewriting the entire retail playbook.

Bryan Gildenberg, CEO of Confluencer Commerce, just spilled the tea on this stealth AI revolution.

Whether you’re a retail professional or just trying to better understand how GenAI is playing quarterback behind the scenes, we got the intel from one of the brightest in the industry.

Grab your carts.

Let’s stock up on knowledge. 🛒

1 – AI: The Invisible Backbone of Retail Giants 👻

Like we always repeat here at Everyday AI — AI aint new.

Bryan walked us through how traditional AI has been powering big retail’s decision-making for decades.

But let’s forget customer-facing AI.

The real magic's happening behind closed doors.

Retail giants are unleashing AI on their sprawling third-party marketplaces.

Walmart and Amazon? They're unleashing AI on their third-party marketplaces.

The result? A whole new retail battleground where algorithms are the secret weapon.

Try this:

Bryan emphasized the importance of understanding AI's impact on your business operations.

Start by identifying your most complex, data-heavy processes.

That's where AI can make the biggest difference. Look at your inventory management, pricing strategies, or supplier communications. Pick one and dive deep into how AI could transform it.

Oh, speaking of Wal-Mart, we already gave you some behind-the-scenes on how they’re tapping into Generative AI.

2 – The Great Search Shake-up 🔎

Google who?

The search game is changing, fast.

And that means, the retailers sell and buyers buy is changing just as quickly.

Bryan walked us through how the vast majority of online commerce starts with a Google search.

And that’s one of the most impactful changes that Generative AI is throwing into the commerce game.

GenAI is flipping the script, with AI answers engines like Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews changing which products display (or get hidden) when people are searching.

Try this:

Consumers and retailers alike gotta pay attention to these trends.

Are we going to be doing an old fashion Google search to find holiday gifts this year? Or, will Google’s AI overviews and Perplexity be serving up shopping lists?

Bryan stressed the importance of understanding new discovery platforms.

He pointed out TikTok's growing influence in product discovery for younger audiences.

Take his advice: Allocate a portion of your marketing budget to experiment with TikTok. Create short-form video content showcasing your products in action.

Use AI tools to analyze which elements resonate most with viewers, then double down on what works.

Show us your best dance. Or your worst.

If you wanna see more on how AI is changing search, we got you covered there as well shorties.

3 – The Rise of 'Artisanal' human content? 🤖

Here’s a weird sentence to write: human-created content could become …. Unique?

In a sea of AI-generated sameness, unique voices stand out. And while legit every small and big retailers rushes to stuff AI-generated words and images everywhere, that human touch may actually have a resurgence.

And even be leverage as a marketing angle.

Remember, it's not about how fast your AI can churn out content. It's about how well your humans can guide it, and if the humans making the purchasing decisions actually resonate.

Try this:

Bryan highlighted the growing value of unique, human-crafted content. Follow his lead: Invest in upskilling your content team. Focus on areas AI struggles with - emotional intelligence, cultural nuance, and creative storytelling.

Develop a workflow where AI handles research and initial drafts, but your human creators add the final touches that make content truly unique.

You’ve gotta make the ‘human in the loop’ is intentional, well-timed and impactful. Make smart decisions about which step of the commerce journey gets blindly handed off to AI.

Here’s a great guide from Algolia about some best-practices for making still your AI and ecomm strategies can play nice with each other.
