1. DDoS Attack Targets ChatGPT and OpenAI's API 🚨

OpenAI recently faced a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack, causing outages for services like ChatGPT. The company detected abnormal traffic patterns indicative of a DDoS attack and is actively working on mitigation. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman noted that the usage of new features exceeded expectations, leading to a staggered rollout and potential short-term instability.

2. JPMorgan Collaborates with US Regulators on AI Projects 🏦

JPMorgan Chase & Co. is actively working with U.S. regulators on its generative AI pilot projects. The bank is ensuring that all necessary controls are in place as it seeks to lead in AI deployment within the highly regulated financial industry. Lori Beer, JPMorgan’s global chief information officer, emphasized the importance of helping regulators understand the construction and control of these AI models, as well as the new risks they present.

3. The Singularity Could Arrive by 2031, Says AI Expert 🤖

According to AI expert Ben Goertzel, the singularity – the point where AI surpasses human control – might occur within the next 3 to 8 years. This prediction is based on the rapid development of AI across various sectors. The push towards Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), capable of performing tasks as well as humans, is seen as a key step towards this singularity. However, there's still debate on how close we truly are to achieving AGI and the subsequent singularity.

4. Microsoft Patents AI-Powered Therapy App 🧠

Microsoft has filed a patent for an AI therapist app designed to provide emotional support. This AI can process imagery and text, building a "memory" of the user's life and emotional triggers. It's intended for general emotional support rather than emergency situations. The AI can ask prompting questions and make suggestions based on emotional cues. However, the effectiveness and safety of such AI in handling complex mental health situations remain a subject of debate.

5. Bill Gates Says We’ll All Have AI Assistants in 5 Years 😲

Bill Gates envisions a future where AI acts as super-helpful assistants, transforming them from potential existential threats to admin-busters. Gates predicts that within five years, AI agents will understand and execute tasks through everyday language, making software more intuitive and less reliant on human input.

It’s here! 😱

It’s here! 😱

In one of the most highly anticipated updates in the GenAI space in like forever, OpenAI’s Custom GPTs feature is live for most ChatGPT Plus users.

Naturally, we deliver with a breakdown of what it is, how it works, and we build a simple custom GPT live.

🤷‍♂️ What’s Going On and Why It Matters:

If you LOVE data and AI, who should you be rooting for?

Should we want Generative AI to handle all that data work for us? Or will humans always have a seat at the data analysis table?

Will AI replace traditional tools like spreadsheets, BI dashboards and databases?

Zain Hoda helped us figure it all out.

Zain is the CTO at Vanna AI, and he joined the Everyday AI show to talk about how AI is changing data analysis and give us his insider tips.

So whether you’re an SQL expert, or just trying to understand if ChatGPT can create that Excel formula you’ve been Googling for the past hour, today’s show is for you.

(Wait, did you figure out that formula yet or no? We can’t either.)

Zain helped clear up what’s happening in the data world right now.

Some hot topics and detailed dives we covered:

  • Potential for AI to replace traditional data analysis tools like spreadsheets and databases

  • Advantages of using generative AI to generate SQL queries

  • Regulatory concerns, especially in heavily regulated fields like healthcare and finance

  • Hesitation in using generative AI models with data due to confidentiality concerns

  • Misconceptions around GPT 4 and advanced data analysis due to lack of exposure

  • Use of AI to accelerate the process of answering business user questions

….. and SO much more.

So what’s it all mean?

Let’s dig in y’all! 🥄

🦾How You Can Leverage:

Data vs. AI — is it a battle?

Or can they co-exist?

If you caught today’s episode, you know that GenAI is completely changing the data analysis game.

Let’s find out how in our 1-2-3!

1 – Data roles are changing️ 🔀

So apparently that whole Generative AI thing is pretty good at the whole data thing.

Who woulda thunkit?

So how are data roles going to change with GenAI? Zain said there will be a shift of data analysts actually spending less time analyzing data and more overseeing AI models and documenting processes.

2 – GPT is legit with data 👌

Skeptical about OpenAI and ChatGPT for data analysis? Think again!

These tools are the real deal. From handling large datasets to enabling data-driven conversations, they're elevating data analysis to a whole new level.

Zain even dropped a hot take that he thinks GPT4 is better at data analysis than writing content! (You can even check out Vanna's advance breakdown of how accurately LLMs can generate SQL.)

3 – More data for the whole team 👥

Say goodbye to data silos and hello to team-wide data fluency!

Zain broke down that Generative AI is not only shifting the role of data analysts, but also democratizing data.

In other words, you don’t gotta be a data dork to tap into those juicy insights. Combining the conversational nature of large language models with their advanced computation superpowers means bringing simple to understand data decision-making to everyone. Not just the data team.
