🤷‍♂️ What’s Going On and Why It Matters:

The words ‘ChatGPT’ have become about as commonplace as sports arguments at a backyard BBQ.

(Seriously, though, my Chicago Bears are still gonna suck, y’all. Sorry not sorry.)

ChatGPT has become a prime-time topic, yet Google’s AI chat hasn’t gotten much shine.

Why?

Well, we’re not sure.

So we decided to give it a quick discount double-check.

Google updated Bard with some shiny new features that we talked about last week. So, we dedicated an episode to Bard to see if these new updates were more than bells and whistles.

Our take?

Some really good stuff 👇

  • Bard can read images

  • You can talk to Bard and it can talk back

  • One-click options to change tone, length and share

  • Bard created a working website out of an ugly sketch LIVE on the show

Let’s check it

🦾How You Can Leverage:

Ok, so Bard’s actually pretty legit with these new updates

If you joined us for our Bard breakdown, you know that these new Google updates have now put Bard (back) on the Chat Map.

Here’s our biggest takeaways: Bard is now our go-to for people to learn AI chats.

Not saying it’s the best. (It’s not)

However, some of the new features Google baked into Bard make it SO beginner friendly, that it’s setting itself up to compete with the Microsoft-backed Open AI.

What do we like most?

Let’s take a look, with our 3-step guide for getting the most out of the new Bard.

1 – Your chats = finally saved 💾

In the past, when people asked if they should use Bard, it was a resounding NO.

Why?

Mainly because you literally couldn’t save your work.

Imagine jumping into Google Docs and not being able to save your work. Or, revisit the doc after restarting your computer or browser. Now you can.

Try this:
Now that Bard can save Chats, start going side-by-side with ChatGPT and Bard.

It’s something we teach all the time — if you’re spending time in ChatGPT, you might as well be copying-and-pasting in Bard (or Bing, or Claude 2) and doubling your output. Sometimes, you’ll be pleasantly surprised with better results.

2 – Better interface = easier to use 😌

Alright, you may not be UI/UX geeks like us.

But the user interface and the user experience really matters.

Being able to share your Bard chats with one click is slick. One-click options for changing the tone are not only extremely powerful, but a joy to use compared to the clunkiness of ChatGPT.

Try this:
This is weird to type: but all beginners should learn AI chatting in Google Bard. These new interface updates make Bard much easier to learn than ChatGPT’s clunkier interface.

Don’t get us wrong — ChatGPT Plus with Plugins is MUCH more powerful than Bard. But for beginners, Bard’s clean interface should be your training wheels into large language models. 🚲

3 – More accessible to all 🗣️

Let’s not overlook accessibility.

Two low-key updates: the ability to speak to Bard and have Bard speak back to you. And that’s all baked-in to the default interface.

Sure, you can Macgyver that setup in ChatGPT, but in Bard… It.Just.Works. For people with certain accessibility challenges, being able to talk and listen to an AI chat is truly amazing.

Try this:
Talk to Bard, and listen back. Even if you’re gucci pounding at the keyboard all day like that one keyboard cat meme, there’s something refreshing about being able to talk to an AI chat and listen to its responses back. Like, we’re finally in the future.

Annnnnnd, for those of us with fat, fumbling fingers, this changes the game while using Bard on mobile.

Now This …

Sure we wanna root against the big guy — but should we all give the new Google Bard a chance?

We think so.
