1. MidJourney v6 Elevates AI Image Generation 🎨
MidJourney's latest version 6 release brings significant enhancements to its AI image generator. Users can now enjoy longer prompts, finer control over color and shading, and the ability to add text to photos. This update positions MidJourney competitively against rivals like OpenAI's DALL-E 3, offering features similar to ChatGPT's refinement capabilities for DALL-E images.
2. Google's VideoPoet: AI-Powered Video Generation 🎥
Google's new large language model (LLM), VideoPoet, is setting new standards in AI-driven video generation. Unlike existing models, VideoPoet uses an LLM rather than a diffusion-based method, allowing for longer, higher quality video clips with more consistent motion. Trained on a vast array of videos and text-image pairs, it can simulate various camera motions, visual styles, and even generate matching audio.
3. Samsung's AI Chip Outperforms Nvidia's in Power Efficiency 🚀
Samsung, in collaboration with Naver, has developed a new AI chip that claims to be eight times more power-efficient than Nvidia's H100. This innovative semiconductor solution combines Samsung's chip production expertise with Naver's AI knowledge. The first AI semiconductor solution, based on an FPGA tailored for the Naver HyperCLOVA X large language model, leverages LPDDR memory for its efficiency.
4. Apple Advances AI for Smartphone Use 📱
Apple's latest research, focusing on running large language models (LLMs) on smartphones, signals its intent to compete in generative AI with Silicon Valley giants. The research paper, "LLM in a Flash," addresses computational bottlenecks, enabling effective LLM inference on devices with limited memory. This development could revolutionize how AI-powered apps like ChatGPT operate on mobile devices, traditionally reliant on vast data center resources.
5. Microsoft Copilot Integrates with Suno for AI-Generated Music 🎵
Microsoft's AI chatbot Copilot teams up with Suno, a Cambridge-based AI music startup, to create AI-generated songs on demand. Users can now access Suno through Copilot, simply by enabling the Suno plug-in and providing a text prompt for the desired song. Suno's technology generates original songs, typically a minute or two long, complete with lyrics. While the Suno plug-in on Copilot produces one song per search, Suno's Discord offers two songs per prompt.

🤷♂️ What’s Going On and Why It Matters:
2024 is around the corner?
Yikes.
No matter your industry or position, chances are you’re trying to figure out the game plan for implementing AI in 2024.
(You ARE reading an AI-focused newsletter, afterall.)
Don’t worry fam, we brought in an assistant to help us with the daunting task of penciling in our AI strategy.
(Oh, and we’ll be coming with spicy takes tomorrow, too!)
Markus Bernhardt, the Chief Consultant at Endeavor Intelligence, cut it straight with us today on the show.
There was good news and bad news.
(Bad news first? OK, slick.)
The bad news is — most decision-makers are probably behind when it comes to implementation and are getting in their own company’s way.
The good news is — we’ve got the antidote for that.
Markus gave us the lowdown on how to get ahead of the curve and start implementing AI in 2024 like a boss.
He emphasized the importance of aligning AI implementation with the specific needs of your organization.
Here’s the real talk: It's not about just jumping on the AI bandwagon; it's about understanding how AI can genuinely add value to your business operations, client interactions, products, and services.
We tackled that, and a bunch more:
Staying current with AI tech is crucial for all professionals.
Rapid changes in AI require constant readiness to adapt.
Businesses must prepare for AI strategy and seek assistance.
Generative AI benefits small businesses but poses challenges.
Effective communication and ongoing monitoring are essential.
Organizations should select AI solutions that align with their needs.
Whew.
Wanna get down to the nuts and bolts and apply it to your biz?
Same. Let’s get it. 👇
🦾How You Can Leverage:
GenAI can do a bulk of the role for professionals in the communications space.
You can view that as a threat, or as an opportunity.
With Megan Thomas joining the show, we explored the latter. She laid out not only how we can leverage AI for daily communications tasks, but how it can actually make you more irreplaceable in your role.
Let’s dive in.
1 – Act with urgency️ 🏃
Tech innovation usually happens at a slow speed.
Markus talked about the traditional route of implementing new technology — taking on RFP proposals from multiple vendors, and slowly and deliberately going over every detail.
If you take the same approach to GenAI in 2024, you’ll get left behind shorties.
Try this: Markus called for a more bottom-up approach to get AI implemented faster. Because C Suite execs might not be the demographic using GenAI tools the most, companies should look at building their GenAI strategy alongside workers who will be using it the most.
Check this recent Fortune article detailing why it’s not always the CEO responsible for AI implementation.
2 – Change your time to implement ⏰️
Fast and hard use-cases.
That’s what you need.
Don’t think in months or quarters for measuring. Think in days and weeks.
Markus suggested finding and measuring quantifiable use-cases in short bursts — think 10-12 weeks.
Old school use-cases don’t work in the new-age of GenAI tech.
Try this: So where do you get those business use-cases? YOU ALREADY KNOW we got you covered.
3 – Don’t look at shiny objects 💎
We fall victim to this almost every day, too.
You’re not alone.
Generative AI moves at legit breakneck speeds — faster than any tech innovation we’ve seen in the history of business.
Markus said you’ve gotta keep that in mind when building out your 2024 roadmap, you need to be able to stick to solutions-based implementation, not tool-based tactics.
Try this: Want a little secret on how we help companies implement AI into their workflows? Build in tool time. In other words, schedule out a time in your implementation strategy to reassess your current GenAI tech stack. When you know it’s part of your plan, you’ll be less likely to get Shiny Object Syndrome in the day-to-day.
Now This …
Remember when we asked you earlier this week if you wanted an AI Jordan reading you this newsletter?
Well, you apparently really wanted it.
