How to teach the next generation AI 🧑‍🏫️

🎓 Teaching AI to the next gen, Microsoft adds AI key to keyboard, translating text with ChatGPT, and more!

Outsmart The Future

Sup y’all 👋

My wife and I can’t agree on something, and I need your advice. 🤣

I say that individual people would not pay for bespoke, 1-on-1 ChatGPT training.

(I think it’s probably more for companies.)

She says individual people would 100% pay for something like that.

(She thinks it’d be like a cheat code for 1,000+ hours of knowledge custom-tailored for their use-case.)

In theory, a paid personal training would look like this:

  • Person fills out an onboarding form

  • Our team spends a few hours and builds and trains some custom chats inside ChatGPT that we share with you

  • We do a 90-minute to 2-hour training session live! A 1-on-1 training with you.

  • The investment would probably be $300-$500

So, what do you think?

How do we teach the next generation about AI?

Whether it's through education in schools or personal learning, there seems to be no cohesive plan on how we teach GenAI.

So what are the essentials we need to teach AI?

Jim Barrood, Innovation Ecosystem Catalyst, joins us to discuss ways we can learn and teach AI to the next generation.

1. Microsoft Adds AI Key To Its Keyboard ⌨️

Microsoft is updating Windows keyboards by introducing an AI button, marking the first major change in nearly 30 years. The 'Copilot' key, positioned right of the space bar, activates Microsoft's Copilot service for tasks like summarizing documents and recommending music. This will debut on Windows 11 laptops and PCs, with a wider release expected from late February.

2. AI Brings Elvis Back to Stage 🎤

London is set to host a groundbreaking show featuring a life-size AI-generated projection of Elvis Presley, blending AI and augmented reality for an immersive concert experience. Created by U.K. firm Layered Reality, the show promises a journey through Elvis's life, utilizing thousands of his personal photos and videos. Following its London debut, the show will tour to Las Vegas, Tokyo, and Berlin, echoing the success of ABBA's recent augmented reality concert.

3. FTC's $25,000 Challenge Against AI Voice Cloning Scams 🚨

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has launched a unique challenge, offering a $25,000 prize for solutions to detect AI-enabled voice cloning used in scams. This initiative addresses the growing sophistication of voice cloning technology, which, while beneficial for services like personalized text-to-speech, poses significant risks for fraud and social engineering. Participants are invited to submit their ideas, with the FTC aiming to identify effective defenses against this emerging threat.

4. Italy's G7 Focus: AI and African Development 🌍

During its G7 presidency, Italy, led by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, is prioritizing two critical themes: supporting African development and addressing the challenges of artificial intelligence (AI). Meloni emphasizes the importance of AI's impact on the labor market and the potential risks of human intellect being overshadowed by AI advancements. Additionally, she highlights the need for strategic, equal partnerships in Africa to improve local economies and living standards, aiming to reduce migration pressures.

5. AI's Existential Threat: A 5% Chance of Human Extinction? 😳

A survey of AI researchers reveals a startling consensus: there's a 5% chance that AI could pose an existential threat to humanity. While opinions vary on the nature of these risks, the majority agree on the potential for catastrophic consequences. The survey also indicates that AI could achieve significant milestones sooner than expected, such as creating human-indistinguishable music.

Translate Text Using ChatGPT!

Translating text used to be very expensive and time-consuming.

Now with AI, you can translate and analyze text.

We’re showing you how to use the MixerBox GPT translator in ChatGPT.

🦾How You Can Leverage:

Like, Hall of Shame-worthy fumbling.

So, Jim Barrood is trying to do something about it.

Jim, a tech and business building vet, joined Everyday AI to talk about how to teach the next generation about GenAI.

He shared about the free Global GPT Challenge that he launched —  open to any teenagers looking to sharpen their GenAI skills.

Today’s show also featured a first for Everyday AI — our first high school guest, Ezra, who walked us through a custom GPT he built live on the show.

Whether you’re a parent trying to figure out how (or if) to teach your kids AI, or maybe a student following along (Hey Tera’s kids!), then buckle up for this 1-2-3 on how to teach the next Generation about GenAI.

1 – New Job: Educate Yourself 🫵

Take a page out of Ezra’s book, who joined the show along with Jim to show off his custom GPT he made! (Go play with that here.) Like Ezra showed us, so much of learning new AI technologies is about getting your hands dirty.

Yeah, you can read 10 different books on surfing. But you’ll still crash. You’ve gotta get out there, put in the work, and learn how the waves break.

Try this:
How in the actual heck to keep up?

Well, did you know we have like 300+ episodes, tutorials and more on our YouTube channel?

Talk about surfing. You can literally learn all aspects of Generative AI there for free.

Have fun!

2 – Take Part in the Challenge! 💪

TBH, we get pitched AI-related thangs all the time. New AI-powered Saas apps, physical AI products, paid courtesy, companies wanting to get your attention to buy their products, etc. 99% of them are garbage.

We’d say Jim’s GPT Global challenge is in the 1% of AI events with learning at the forefront.

We’re HERE for it!

Try this:
Whether you’re a parent of a teenager, or you’re a teenager yourself, taking part in the Global GPT Challenge is worth the time. It’s a free challenge to enter, and there’s even scholarship opportunities available.

3 – Find Legit Learning Opportunities

Knowing where to learn is like spotting the wave before it breaks.

Luckily, Jim also dropped a lifetime worth of knowledge on this as well.

He talked about how the swiftly changing landscape of Generative AI makes it hard to keep up. Throw in ethics, security concerns, deepfakes and everything else, and you’ve got a full plate on responsible AI use.

He said that’s why it’s important to constantly be learning Generative AI from reputable sources.

And we swear we didn’t pay Jim to plug Everyday AI and our free trainings and courses! He did though – thanks!

More than 2,000 business leaders (from solopreneurs to Fortune 100 execs) have taken our free, Prompt Engineering 101 course called Prime, Prompt, Polish.

Jim also mentioned Khan Academy, which has a great education-based Khanmigo offering geared toward students and teachers.
