šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø Whatā€™s Going On and Why It Matters:

What are we talking aboutā€¦ ethics? (*In Allen Iverson ā€œpracticeā€ voice*)

Yeah, we are.

Itā€™s easy to get carried away by what Generative AI can do for us. But, how often do we stop and think: ā€˜Is this ethical?ā€™

We started to tackle this monstrosity of a topic today with a leader from one of the largest companies in the world: IBM.

Moe Alo is a Senior Sales Leader at IBM.

With a far-reaching background in technology and enterprise use cases, Moe was an ideal guide to help us all tackle the big ethical elephant in the room.

In our discussion, we tackled a wide range of topics, including IBM's approach to ethics in AI and the need for transparency and individual responsibility.

We also examined the emerging challenges and opportunities in the AI landscape, emphasizing the importance of guarding against the potential misuse of AI.

What else did you miss? A lot.

But, letā€™s break it down and talk about what it all actually means šŸ‘‡

šŸ¦¾How You Can Leverage:

So, how should we all actually be using Generative AI?

Itā€™s not all black and white, as we found out.

And thereā€™s no one-size-fits-all approach to ethical AI usage. Buuuuuuut, we can all start somewhere.

Hereā€™s a great starter pack for using AI in an ethical and responsible way.

1 ā€“ Ethical AI is a must šŸ“š

This is a shared responsibility.

That makes it tough, especially in a time where Generative AI almost feels like an unfair advantage.

Moe shouted out some examples of when AI goes bad ā€” like when lawyers didnā€™t know how to use ChatGPT and it got them in hot water.

Try this:
Create a policy. It sounds like a gargantuan task, but itā€™s not.

Whether youā€™re a solopreneur or work at a Fortune 500 company using game-changing tools like watsonX, a Generative AI policy is a crucial first step to take. Without an internal policy, ethics are SUPER easy to overlook.

2 ā€“ Transparency builds trust šŸ¤

Moe had a great takeaway in terms of transparency.

He said that companies should be truthful and forthright about their usage of AI, whether itā€™s to clients or end users.

He likened it to a nutrition label on food ā€” companies should label what Generative AI systems theyā€™re using, why theyā€™re using them, and what it means for the end user.

Try this:
Take a page outta Moeā€™s recipe and create a nutritional label for how your company uses AI. Mistrust, deepfakes and disinformation is about to run rampant due to GenAI.

If you label what you create, though, itā€™s an ideal way to start to build trust with your clients or customers.

3 ā€“ Accessibility is important šŸšŖ

Accessibility is key ā€” especially as GenAI opens up so many doors for those who can use it.

Whether youā€™re in a small org or a large company, itā€™s important to push for universal access to generative AI tools.

Let's create a level playing field where budget and platform are no longer barriers. Itā€™s our STRONG belief that AI greatness should be within everyone's reach!

Try this:
This oneā€™s tough to tackle on your own. We get it.

If youā€™re in a position of business power, though, make sure to keep accessibility in mind. While access can be out of your control, education doesnā€™t. Check out IBMā€™s SkillsBuild, which is a 100% free resource for learning Generative AI.

Now This ā€¦

And just like that, youā€™re on your way to being a more responsible AI user.

With the right structure in place, youā€™re already ahead of the game.
