🤷‍♂️ What’s Going On and Why It Matters:

Wait, AI is more creative than humans?

Blasphemy!

No blasphemy — just straight facts.

Today’s show mighta struck a nerve with y’all.

If you didn’t join the live discussion, here’s Jordan’s takeaway: AI is more creative than humans. And it’s not even close.

And trust us, this isn’t just the Everyday AI team riding the AI Choo Choo train.

Nope.

The topic has been hotly debated for years, especially with the advent of GPT and AI tools like ChatGPT, Midjourney and Runway.

We’ve been told that AI would always lack behind humans in at least two main areas: empathy and creativity. And while the empathy battle may be raging on (despite some recent studies that showed AI was more empathetic than some doctors in terms of bedside manner), Jordan set out to tackle the other side of the battle.

Jordan shared his background in creativity — from decades in writing, photography and designing to being a creative catalyst for Nike and Jordan Brand activations nationwide.

And our host didn’t hesitate in choosing sides when it came to if humans or AI are more creative.

After all, AI is trained on trillions of data points from creative humans throughout history. In the same way a human can learn creativity, AI models can do the same. But at scale. And in every category from creative writing and reasoning, music, photography, website design, and just about every other medium you can think of.

🦾How You Can Leverage:

Sooooo…. AI is more creative than humans.

What’s that mean?

Am I out of a job? Will robots be painting pictures of me? Does the future of humankind depend on a decision that an AI makes today?

Hold onto them horses. Let’s take it 1 action step at a time.

Let’s break down what AI-driven creativity means for us all, and feast on some facts.

1 – Numbers (normally) don’t lie 🔢M

Yeah, Jordan had some hot takes on the live show today. Buuuuut, he also dished the facts on the man vs. machine battle.

Try this: Check out one of the most impactful and in-depth studies from the University of Montana college of business, that shows AI tested into the top 1% for original, creative thinking. In other words, GPT4 generated more creative responses than 2,700+ students. The submissions were scored by a third party that did not know AI was involved.

2 – AI is trained on human creativity 🧓.

How in the world could AI be as creative (or more creative) than humans?

If humans created all this AI junk, aren’t we therefore more creative? In the end… no. And, it’s important to understand how AI models are trained and how they work.

Without us getting too dorky, we’ll sum it up in an overly simple way like this: AI models are trained on almost everything that has existed on the internet. Every piece of artwork, every video, every piece of creative writing, research paper, how-to guides, studies and strategic insights. Trillions of parameters.

3 – Upskill your creativity 👩‍🎨

Tough cookies, humans. (Us included!)

So, we can take this news one of two ways: assume the fetal position and cry about impending robot doom, or do something about it. If you’re reading this newsletter, we assume you’re traveling the latter route.

The best thing about AI being more creative than any human out there? We can take advantage of that creativity in an easier and more impactful way than ever before.

Try this: Learn new skills and give your creative juices a shot of epinephrine, AI style. Take a dive into our previous Midjourney and Runway episodes to see how quickly you can upskill your creative skills.
