🦾How You Can Leverage:
Is it possible to balance AI innovation and ethics?
Can you tap into the hyper-personalization that large language models offer, yet still keep privacy in mind?
Tough questions, right?
Today, we brought answers.
Hopefully you didn’t call it an early weekend, because Kelly Dowd went into straight Professor Kelly mode, giving us AI insights that can help businesses of all sizes balance AI growth and ethical considerations.
Kelly is a Senior Consultant, Innovation Lab at KPMG.
Yes THAT KPMG. The global consulting juggernaut that advises some of the globe’s largest brands.
That’s why today’s conversation is a must listen to.
Maybe you can’t afford to hire a Big Four consulting firm for your biz. But you can’t afford NOT to gobble up insights from one of their senior consultants.
Miss your opportunity? Don’t worry, you can always go ask us a question here.
Ready to walk that AI innovation-privacy tightrope?
Let’s get it shorties. 👇
1 – AI Innovation isn’t optional 🤷
Kelly had a powerful comparison to adapting for businesses in a new world of Generative AI — a pandemic.
He said that we humans weren’t necessarily ready for COVID-19, yet we all had to adapt. We didn’t have a choice, and we had to make some immediate and long-lasting changes.
Same thing with AI innovation.
Whether you’re a business leader at a Fortune 500 or a small biz entrepreneur, you don’t have a choice.
We’ll take it a little further and offer some advice — innovate or suffocate.
Try this:
You don’t have to look into the fogginess of an AI future of your own. The KPMG team already did some heavy lifting.
Go check out their in-depth GenAI survey and find out where biz leaders are focusing on when it comes to AI innovation.
2 – Ethical Communication is Key 🔑
Sometimes the most troubling problems have simple solutions.
Talk more.
Kelly gave some straightforward yet powerful examples.
Need more data for AI personalization?
Communicate why ahead of time, and after the data collection.
Does the client work now take 3 days instead of 2 weeks because of AI?
Tell your client or customer that.
Try this:
Not sure how to talk to your customers or clients about how you’re using GenAI?
3 – Follow the Ethical Leaders 🧑💼️
We get it.
Balancing AI innovation and those buggy ethical standards is easier said than done.
Kelly pointed us in the right direction — follow those who are getting it right.
Study them and emulate their approach.
Kelly dropped a great example — how beauty giant Sephora is using AI and data to offer customers more personalized skin care options.
Try this:
Yes, Sephora did make a misstep and was fined in 2022 due to California’s strict Consumer Privacy Act.
Yet, the brand has bounced back in a big way with its recent advancements in AI and personalization, while also ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations.
See what businesses can learn from their AI transformation.
