1. OpenAI Staff's Warning Before CEO's Brief Ouster 🚹

Before Sam Altman's temporary removal as CEO of OpenAI, staff researchers reportedly warned the board about a groundbreaking AI discovery, potentially harmful to humanity. Yikes. This revelation, part of the Q* project, was believed to be a significant step towards achieving Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). Other reports even called this a ‘superintelligence’ breakthrough.

The Q* model's ability to solve elementary math problems was seen as a major advancement, despite its basic nature. This internal alarm and the subsequent turmoil, including Altman's brief firing and reinstatement after staff threatened to leave, highlight the intense debates and ethical considerations surrounding the rapid development of powerful AI technologies. 2. Nvidia Delays AI Chip Launch in China Amid U.S. Export Rules 🚀

Nvidia has postponed the release of its new AI chip, the H20, in China, designed to align with U.S. export regulations. This delay, reported by Reuters, is due to integration issues faced by server manufacturers. The U.S. government's tightened export curbs on AI chips to China have impacted Nvidia's A800 and H800 chips, leading to the development of export-compliant chips like the H20, L20, and L2.

This setback is significant for Nvidia, which generates about a fifth of its revenue from China, and is contending with rising competition from local firms like Huawei. Read more to get the whole scoop.

3. Putin Embraces AI: Russia's Strategic Leap into AI Fight đŸ„Š

Russian President Vladimir Putin is making a strategic push into artificial intelligence. This move signifies Russia's ambition to be a key player in the global AI arena.

Putin's embrace of AI technology highlights the increasing importance of AI in national security and global competitiveness. Russia's AI advancements could reshape the international technological landscape. Go read to find out what Russia is up to.

4. The Dawn of AI Drones: A New Era in Autonomous Warfare 🚁

The Pentagon is reportedly advancing towards deploying AI-controlled drones capable of making autonomous kill decisions. This development marks a significant shift in warfare, raising ethical and legal concerns.

The use of such "killer robots" without human intervention is a contentious issue, sparking debates at the UN. As nations like the US, China, and Israel develop these technologies, the future of warfare and international security is set to change dramatically. Go check this story out to learn more.

5. Study: Majority of Workers Could be Left Behind with GenAI 👀

A startling 71% of employers are lagging in the generative AI race, as revealed by the 2023 Skills Index report from BTG. Despite high demand for AI skills, many companies struggle with integrating AI into their operations. (Good thing you’re staying ahead with Everyday AI, right?)

This new report highlights key challenges like unclear regulations, limited leadership understanding, and data security concerns. To catch up, employers need AI awareness training, expert consultations, and focused change management. This gap in AI adoption could hinder the predicted economic boost AI promises, emphasizing the urgency for companies to adapt and innovate. Dig deeper on Forbes.

Get better prompts with Bing’s hidden prompt builder

Wait, Bing Copilot has a prompt builder?

Yup. It’s legit hidden in the Bing settings.

If you’re ever looking for a little inspiration, or just need a hand in helping you to build better prompts while using Bing, we’ve got you.

đŸ€·â€â™‚ïž What’s Going On and Why It Matters:

Learning is changing.

Sounds kinda weird, right?

Like how can learning
. Change? Isn’t it always the same?

Well with Generative AI, the Learning & Development world is both changing rapidly and more important than ever.

Kambria Dumesnil joined Everyday AI so we get our learn on with all things Learning.

Kambria is the Founder of the AI Innovation Lounge, sharing her in-depth background on all things L&D and knowledge management.

If you’re a little new to the L&D space, here’s the gist.

Many larger companies invest heavily in training and upskilling their employees. L&D is a strategic tool companies use to make sure its workforce remains skilled and agile in an ever-evolving market.

Sure, e-learning and Subject Matter Experts are pretty common to keep employees sharp.

But
. Isn’t that a little outdated?

That’s why Kambria dropped some insights on how GenAI is already having a positive impact on the L&D space.

What’s important to know?

  • Roles and responsibilities in L&D are changing, such as instructional design and e-learning development

  • Importance of understanding the root causes and desired performance in L&D

  • Common L&D techniques, such as e-learning and virtual experiences are starting to change

  • Integrating AI avatars and learning simulations into the learning experience

  • Addressing concerns and risks associated with interactive scenarios in generative AI

  • Organizational barriers and policies inhibiting the use of generative AI

  • Microlearning as a prominent use case for generative AI

And that’s just the beginning. (Go listen to the whole thing if you’re ready to up your L&D game!)

Let’s break it down and talk about how you, or your company, can tap into GenAI to give your L&D efforts a lil boost.

đŸŠŸHow You Can Leverage:

Will we all just be using custom GPTs to learn in the future?

Maybe.

But Kambria sees a near-term L&D/AI future involving much more than GPTs to learn.

Let’s take a practical look at how you can implement GenAI to immediately give your L&D a level up.

1 – AI policies benefit L&D 📚

Ultimately, learning is knowledge.

And the role of knowledge management is being straight up rocked by Generative AI.

One of the biggest shortcomings? Most companies don’t have AI policies or governance. Without it, there’s gray area on how or when to use AI. So in some cases, it’s not being used at all. And Generative AI is essentially a free, on-demand subject matter expert. But, you’ve gotta have policies in place.

Try this:
We recently walked through real business use cases for GenAI step-by-step, and talked about how to get policies in place. Check out that episode here.

2 – Real-time conversations đŸ—Łïž

Kambria schooled us on a new GenAI tool we hadn’t even heard of!

(Checks notes. Confirms we’ve never heard of. Freaks out.)

She talked about a use-case for Inworld, which is a GenAI system for creating NPCs, or Non-Player Character.

Why? And how can it help organizations with Learning & Development?

Think: powerful personalized learning experiences, lessons from customized teachers, and increased engagement and retention.

Try this:
Check out how a tool like Inworld can complement your In Real Life trainings and L&D with a powerful and personalized approach to learning.

3 – GPTs for micro learning đŸ€–

If you haven’t dabbled into OpenAI’s custom GPTs, yet, they’re worth exploring.

To put it simply, you can create a custom version of ChatGPT in a few minutes. You don’t need to know how to code, or even any advanced tech skills really.

Kambria mentioned GPTs as a great use-case for companies to build out skillset-based GPTs, trained on your company’s public data.

Try this:
Go check out our short GPT guide, and think of all of the low-hanging L&D fruit that a custom GPT could accomplish.
