Is Claude Artifacts Good at Data Analysis?

Not gonna lie — we’ve long preferred ChatGPT over Anthropic’s Claude. But, Anthropic’s new 3.5 Sonnet brought an amazing new feature: Artifcacts.

So we’re showing you one quick and powerful use-case for Artifacts in how to visualize your data.

Did you sleep a bit too much over an extended July 4th holiday weekend?

The AI world didn’t.

  • OpenAI was reportedly hacked.

  • Tesla kinda showed off their new AI-powered, Gen 2 Optimus robot.

  • Apple gets a super valuable seat at a board that I think the feds are gonna be investigating.

  • And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Let’s get caught up with the AI News that Matters, our weekly Monday segment where we get ya caught up and prepared for the week ahead as it relates to AI developments.

Don’t spend hours drowning in info. Just spend a lil time with us.

Here's what you need to know. 👇

1 – OpenAI's internal details hacked 😬

OpenAI got hacked, and internal details were stolen according to reports. Bloomberg spilled the tea that a hacker infiltrated OpenAI's internal messaging systems last year, extracting info on the design of the company's AI tech.

OpenAI claims no customer data leaked. But here's the kicker - they didn't even hit up the feds to let em know.

What it means:

This isn't just about keeping your password safe anymore. (Although, did you SEE this password leak that was the largest ever? Sheesh.)

In this case, we're talking about guarding the crown jewels of AI. As these systems get more powerful, these breaches could have bigger ripple effects than your average password leak.

With elections on the horizon in the U.S., the threat of AI-powered misinformation is real. This hack might be the wake-up call the industry needs. Don't be surprised if we see tighter security and maybe some government types sniffing around AI companies soon.

It won’t be legislation in the U.S., but we expect to see some tighter regulations from the FTC and others regarding AI companies. (Especially with U.S. elections around the corner.)

2 – ️Tesla kinda unveils Gen 2 robot 🤖

Tesla kinda rolled out its Optimus Gen 2 at an AI conference in Shanghai, China. But don't get too excited - it was just chilling behind glass.

No fancy moves, no robot dance-off. (Bummer, we know.)

Elon's dreaming big, though, saying this bot could make Tesla worth $25 trillion. That's trillion with a T. For perspective, that's about eight Apples. The tech company, not the fruit.

(And as we always warn, take Elon’s claims with a giant grain of salt. Lozl.)

No release date yet on Optimus Gen 2, but Musk hints it might cost less than half a Tesla car. So, maybe $25-30k for your own robot butler? Don't start clearing space in your garage just yet.

What it means:

Tesla's taking a biiiiiiig swing here. If Elon and co pull it off, it could shake up everything from factories to home care.

But that static display raises some eyebrows, especially when so man other AI-powered robots at the same World AI Conference were turning heads. (In a good way.)

Are we looking at the next big thing, or just a really expensive mannequin? The gap between Musk's big AI talk and what we've seen so far is legit wider than the Grand Canyon.

Even if its not Tesla and the Optimus, we might be looking at the start of a "robot economy." But it also raises some tricky questions about the future of work.

3 – Siri's major upgrade delayed until 2025

That super-smart Siri we've been waiting for?

We're talking about a Siri that actually gets what you're saying. Sounds nice, right? Well, don't hold your breath.

Recent reports are saying most of the cool AI features in Apple’s new “Apple Intelligence” platform won't show up until spring 2025

Developers might get a sneak peek in January, but for the rest of us, it's iOS 18.4 in Spring 2025.

Until then, we’ll just have smart assistants that work kinda like this.

What it means: Apple's playing the long game here. Maybe a bit too long. By the time this new smarter Siri drops, we might be talking to our toasters.

(Wouldn’t hate that, TBH.)

Could this delay be more based on OpenAI’s delayed GPT-4o voice capabilities? Or, is the slow rollout an internal Apple issue?

Either way, Google and Amazon are zooming ahead, and Apple's still tying its shoelaces.

We legit called this one back in June, as Apple was super sly in their announcement about Siri and future capabilities. Also, we’ll see if user ultimately have to pay an extra $20/mo for a ChatGPT Plus sub in order to take advantage of some of the shinier “Apple Intelligence” features. We wouldn’t be surprised.

4 – Apple joins OpenAI's board as observer 🍎

The plot thickens.

Apple just scored a seat at the cool kids' table, as they've secured a non-voting spot on OpenAI's board. Phil Schiller, the App Store boss, gets to be the lucky fly on the wall.

Funny thing is, Microsoft's already there. It's like a tech giant sandwich with OpenAI as the filling.

TBH, we’re legit confused how this OpenAI X Apple partnership rolled out. Apple's getting this sweet deal without dropping a dime to OpenAI. They're not paying OpenAI for the ChatGPT integration

And now they get a board seat, too?

  • ✅ Most powerful model in your future iOS/OS in GPT-4o

  • ✅ Not paying OpenAI a dime

  • ✅ Getting a board seat at OpenAI

Talk about having your AI cake and eating it too. Nomnomnom.

What it means:

This is some 4D chess right here for real.

Apple's making sure it's got a front-row seat to the AI revolution. They're not just watching from the sidelines; they're in the locker room with their biggest opponent.

Now Apple AND Microsoft, the fiercest of competitors, both have the inside track for future OpenAI developments. Given that Microsoft and now Apple heavily rely on GPT-4, it makes sense that they both have a board seat.

(And probably access to sooooooooo much new data.)

Buuuuuuuut this cozy setup is raising some eyebrows.

When the biggest players in tech are all buddied up, it's not great for the little guys. Don't be shocked if the antitrust refs and fed inveistigators start blowing their whistles even harder now.
