🤷‍♂️ What’s Going On and Why It Matters:
Spoiler alert: you’re probably wasting your time in your job search.
Another spoiler: AI can really help you up your job search game and help you land your next career.
Don’t take our word for it — we brought in a big gun in the career field.
If you’ve ever been on LinkedIn looking for career advice, you’ve probably stumbled on David Alto. As the Owner of AltoAdvance LLC, David has helped thousands of job seekers navigate the choppy career waters, becoming a trusted voice for people trying to improve their careers.
So… why talk with David on Everyday AI?
Because AI has changed the career and job seeking landscape. And David shared all the secrets.
Here’s what you missed, in short:
ChatGPT is great at cover letters, if you do it correctly
AI can help with matching up your resume to jobs
You’re looking for the wrong answers on LinkedIn
Ready to break it all down?
Let’s get it
🦾How You Can Leverage:
Skip the entree and let’s get to the main course: Midjourney is a money maker. It’s a growth machine.
The biggest takeaway for Midjourney-inspired growth?
Less Time + Less Money = Growth.
Drew shared ways that companies can use Midjourney — from brand books and stock photos to creating a side hustle.
1 – Save time with secret AI tools 🤫
Let’s be honest — we deal with AI software and tools every day.
But careers and job seeking ain’t our bread and butter. So David’s recommendations here are straight gold. He shared with us that one of the most time-consuming pieces of upping your career is the time spent comparing your resumes to job postings to see how qualified you are. So, he shared his favorite tools to do the heavy lifting.
Try this: Jobscan uses its smart tech to give you a match score, so you don’t have to waste hours toiling if you’re a good fit or not. Another AI-powered tool David recommends: Skillsyncer to help you speed up your job search and get you past those pesky systems companies use to weed out resumes. (Applicant Tracking Systems, or ATS).
2 – Tap into ChatGPT 🚰
David had a hot take when it came to ChatGPT.
While it sometimes underwhelms for jobseekers, David shared that ChatGPT can knock out a killer cover letter if you give it the correct info. You still gotta give it the human touch on the front end and back end, but ChatGPT can do the heavy lifting.
Try this: Our AI in 5 today turned into an AI in 12, as we showed y’all have to stack plugins inside ChatGPT to not only help with your job search, but how to also write cover letter and outreach messages at scale that don’t suck. And, we connect to the internet to do it all, so this one’s a must-watch. (Plus, we owed you some extra AI in 5 time since our tutorial yesterday didn’t have audio. Whoooopsies we’re human after all!)
3 – Look in the right LinkedIn places 🔎
Straight gem here from David, just like Wildred said.
And this one has nothing to do with AI. If you’re trying to get noticed on LinkedIn for your next career move, you’re probably looking at the wrong people or in the wrong places. Instead of flooding recruiters inboxes or trying to stalk a hiring manager, switch up your approach.
Try this: Gem incoming: reach out to people in the same company who hold similar roles. As an example, if you’re trying to be a software engineer at Google, try connecting and networking with other …. Software engineers at Google. Chances are this approach will give you better returns over the long run, AND you’ll be able to grow your network of individuals in the spot that you wanna fill. Makes sense, right? For EVEN more LinkedIn gems, go grab David’s free LinkedIn guide to land the job.
