🦾How You Can Leverage:

It’s not often the CEO of one of the largest companies in the U.S. shares their secrets.

But that’s what we’re all about at Everyday AI.

Jim is the CEO of World Wide Technology, the 27th largest private American company. WWT is a global technology service provider that helps organizations think differently about technology to drive their business forward.

And one of the ways they drive their enterprise clients forward?

AI solutions and implementation.

And Jim and WWT aren’t just using wishful thinking and generalities as part of their Generative AI blueprint.

It’s calculated, intentional and provides jaw-dropping results.

(Like, experiencing 40-50% improvement in software development when using GenAI!)

How’s it done?

Where do you start?

Let’s dig into the blueprint Jim laid out 👇

1 – Be AI first or you’ll be last 🥇

Jim didn’t hesitate when asked about it — WWT is an AI-first company.

What’s that mean?

It’s not just some cliche. Jim and team literally live it out.

At 7 AM on Monday, Jim says his executive team meets to plan the week. During the 2-hour meeting, more than half is centered around how WWT is using (and can better use) AI.

Many business leaders try to make AI work on the backend.

As in… how can we stuff some AI at the end of this SOP?

Or, how can AI make our current processes better.

That’s backwards, y’all.

Start with AI, and build from scratch.

That’s how the Generative AI Giants like WWT are tackling digital transformation in the AI age.

You should, too.

Try this:

Don’t add AI at the bottom. You have to rebuild your operations with AI at the lead.

Making that shift to being an AI-first company is easier said than done. Luckily, WWT wrote and shared a guide on doing exactly that.

2 – Make AI the core of your culture 🤝

We think of AI as a time saver.

Efficiency!

Winning time back!

…. right?

Nope.

Instead: you have to shift your company’s culture around using AI as your main competitive advantage, not an after-the-fact time saver.

(That cultural shift is probably part of the reason why WWT is doing nearly $20 billion in revenue annually and is consistently named a top company to work for.

Implementing AI is the key to create differentiation, not just efficiency.

Try this:

Creating and changing culture around AI is a long-term haul. If you find Jim’s approach admirable, then you’ll want to check out this Harvard Business Review article on how to prepare your company culture for AI.

Our fave takeaway? Become a learn-it-all, not a know-it-all.

3 – Kill repeatable processes

Repetition doesn’t need to exist in today’s business world, Jim said.

In order to succeed tomorrow, you have to use GenAI to kill repeatable processes today.

Jim walked through what that part of WWT’s AI strategy looks like.

As an example —
WWT spends a ton of time on RFPs, or Requests For Proposals. It’s the first step of winning business, but Jim says so much of it is replicating the same knowledge in different ways.

The solution? Generative AI.

Jim says WWT implemented GenAI solutions for RFP and is seeing an 80% time savings in that area. (Not a typo…. 80! percent! !)

In the same vein, Jim talked about WWT’s ongoing efforts to create a company-wide version of a ChatGPT-esque tool for employees to use.

So much of our day-to-day is using knowledge and expertise to grow. And so much of that knowledge and expertise can be turned into data and a company-wide AI resource.

Imagine a first-year employee having immediate access to decades worth of niche knowledge at the press of a button.

That’s how you kill repeatable processes and blaze forward faster.

Try this:

Sounds good and all… but how do you do it?

The process of capturing your repetitive tasks and creating AI-powered systems around them is actually time-consuming.

But, invest a little time up front, and get BIG savings in the long run. (You read that part about WWT’s 80% time savings on RFPs, right?)

If you’re ready to dive in deeper, this Magical guide walks you through the process of turning repetitive tasks into AI solutions.

Numbers to watch

700,000 Liters

Research suggests that around 700,000 liters of water were used to cool the machines that trained ChatGPT-3 at Microsoft's data facilities.
