🦾How You Can Leverage:

How did we collaborate in real-time BEFORE AI? 🤦‍♂️

The 1-2 combination of hybrid work and Generative AI really changed how businesses everywhere collaborate in real-time.

So what's next?

Smita Hashim gave us a preview.

Smita is the Chief Product Officer at Zoom. But, her background in the video collaboration space in deep.

Before Zoom, she worked at Microsoft on Microsoft Teams and at Google on Google Meet.

(Yeah, her resume is crazy impressive.)

So, there’s few people as qualified as Smita to talk about how AI is impacting real-time collaboration.

And great timing to chat with her live, as Zoom is in the midst of their Enterprise Connect conference and JUST released some shiny new AI features.

(More on that in #3 below.)

So, let’s break down today’s episode on how AI is changing the world of real-time collaboration, and what you need to know. 👇

1 – H️ybrid work is still the future 🔮

The pandemic kinda forced work from home to be a thing. But, did Generative AI actually help make hybrid work a permanent fixture of our futures?

Kinda, Smita said

Back 5 or 10 years ago, video calls and real-time collaboration was really only effective in person.

Video calls were around, sure. But, at times it actually required MORE work to collaborate with video calls.

Whether you’re a fan of hybrid work or not, Generative AI is kinda a big piece of making it stick.

Try this: Go read this Fast Company article about how Generative AI is a key cog pushing the Hybrid and WFH movements forward.

2 – AI is everyone’s meeting BFF 🤗

As someone that’s been building real-time collaboration products at Zoom, Google and Microsoft for a decade and a half, we were excited to ask Smita what AI feature she finds most useful for real-time-collaboration.

She didn’t hesitate: an AI meeting assistant.

We TOTALLY agree.

If you spend a lot of time in Zoom/Google Meet/Microsoft Teams meetings, it’s worth either enabling each platform’s AI meeting assistant, or using a third-party AI meeting assistant.

Try this: We’ve covered AI meeting assistants in-depth in this episode, which is super underrated by the way.

3 – Zoom into new Zoom AI 🔭

Having a 1-on-1 with the Chief Product Officer of Zoom is pretty cool.

So you KNOW we went into depth on Zoom’s new breakingAI announcements from their Zoom Enterprise Connect conference, which wrapped up tomorrow.

Smita gave us a walkthrough of Zoom’s New AI-Powered Workplace release.

Zoom Workplace offers AI-powered features like AI Companion that can summarize meetings, brainstorm on whiteboards, and even draft emails in seconds.

With features like pre-meeting preparation assistance, post-call summaries, and enhanced document collaboration, Zoom Workplace aims to boost productivity, save time, and foster better teamwork effortlessly.

Try this: If you’re already on a paid Zoom plan, the AI-powered Workplace is included at no extra charge. Buuuut, it’s a little tricky to find and enable, TBH.

Here’s how 👇

1. Update Zoom to the latest version

2. Go into your Zoom settings (website, not desktop app)

3. Enable the “AI Companion” features you want to use.

4. When you’re in your next Zoom meeting, click the “AI Companion” button on the bottom.

5. Enable AI Companion for either all participants, all participants who join, or hosts only. Then click start.
